    What is DWI's normal price?

  • Yeh saw this too, so is this too much for a first flash?

    • Well there's no other option unless you're going to go used or third-party. There's only the SB-700 and SB-910 that is worth getting unless you want something small and light for travel (SB-400 if that's the case, it can't be rotated and is fixed at the face-forward position).

      • you might as well get a good to ok one so you dont need to upgrade later… sb-400 is good for travel and not much else.. been able to rotate is so much better

      • So how are these third-party ones? Are they comparable to the nikon flash? I presume the $50 eBay ones are no good…

SB-400 rotates upwards so you can still bounce with it.

        • True, should've used the word swivel.
I guess the reason I went with the SB-700 was the swivel so I could still bounce when I take photos vertically.

I have both a SB-400 and a SB-700, and I find that I mostly use the SB-400. It's a simple set-and-forget flash which works fine for photographing kids and as a daylight fill flash. I use the SB-700 mostly as remote back light or fill flash - which is insane for a flash of this level of sophistication.

The SB-700 is a great studio flash. It's very flexible and capable. It's also complicated to use - which is the attraction of the SB-400 (it's pretty much fully automatic).

The DWI price ($282) doesn't include any warranty. Kogan charges $279 + $19 shipping, which includes an Australian warranty.

    • Thanks for the input everyone, seems like everyone on this site are experts in cameras but happy to share.

probs going to buy it, but will sleep on it (I've regret what i've brought while im tired before…)

but if anyone have thinks that a third party flash that is just as good as this one please speak.

  • Damn OzBargain…
Now I feel like getting my friend either a flash or a lens for her birthday that's coming up…

I'd be worried if you flashed her & she still needed the lens… :o

      • Hahahah that gave me a laugh

Was thinking 16mm fisheye actually… until I saw the price….

8mm rokinon fish eye is only $300

awesome fish eye for crop sensor

      manual focus though

  • I have recently purchased a 8mm fish eye Samyang - same brand as Rokinon.
Really love it especially for that price!
Just need to get use to the manual focus :)
