OzBargain was about posting the latest deals, however as community grows, the discussions have also moved from not just the new deals posted, to various topics relating to products, brands, stores and retail in general.
To help facilitate the discussions, I have created a few new forums under the "Discussion Categories", which map to deal categories. These are for discussion topics that fall under those specific categories, which previously would have posted under General Discussion or Find Me A Bargain. To get started, these are the categories that I have created:
- Computing
- Electrical & Electronics
- Financial/Banking
- Mobile
- Travel
Do note that we can create more discussion categories that map to corresponding deals categories, if there are more requests & there are substantial amount of discussions. I have tried to move some topics from General to those new forums (pretty much manual job for me at the moment) — more would be done over the next couple of days.
I guess the confusion now would be, if I have something that I want to discuss — where should I post my discussion topic?
- Some forums are for specific topics. For example, all Group Buy sites issues/discussions should continue to be posted in Group Buy Deals Forum. All competitions will go into the Competition Forum (competitions posted as deals will also be moved here). Free Software/Website Forum will continue to collect useful always-free websites, software and apps.
- If your discussion topic belongs to specific discussion category, post it there.
- If you cannot decide, post in General Discussion Forum
There are some forums that are not doing that well and are a bit ambiguous (Cheapskate Intelligence Agency, Find Me A Bargain) — I will need to think about what to do with these later. Possibly dissolve those forums and move the topics to other forums/merge into General Discussion Forum.
Any suggestion?
- If it is related to any of the discussion categories, post there
Like everything, we need to adjust as things change.
One issue has been that since most people look at the general discussion area everyone wants to post there.
Putting this further down, the "list" means its will be more of a catchall at the end, rather than the main category, which fits with the desire to properly categorise things
BTW Rebates and cashbacks - would this be the space to put referral codes that dont conflict with moneybackco offers
