Ebony Wood Headphones - $39.95 @ Soundhubs.com.au

40
wood

Hey Everyone,

To celebrate the Australian launch of Esmooth wooden headphones, we have 20 pairs of our sustainable ebony wood headphones going for $39.95 until this Friday (or until sold out). That's $50 off the retail price.

These are an excellent headphone made from real, sustainable forest wood.

Why are we selling them so cheap? We want to get these out in public for everyone to see. Word of mouth is how we market! So please pass this on :)

Cheers,
Lee

Nah, waiting for the ivory version :)

  • very interesting.

since you stock both, how do they compare to these: http://www.soundhubs.com.au/products/sennheiser-hd-218-headp…

the sennheiser also come with 2yr warranty at virtually same 'normal' price. do these wooden ones come with warranty?

  • touche cheaty :)

Thanks for your question UFO. Yes - the Esmooths are backed by a one year warranty.

    • So, other than warranty, how do they compare with regards to Sound and Quality?

      • I have the HD 218, nothing can compare… ;)

        • +1

          …. to you!

        • +2

I have the HD 800, nothing can really compare

        • I mean in comparison to this, as asked before…

      • Very hard to compare any headphone with Sennheiser - they're a class act and we also stock many of their models. However in saying that, the Esmooths are certainly a quality headphone (and we wouldn't sell them if they weren't). They look and sound as good (if not better) than a lot of headphones on the market in this price range.

Pretty sure you already 'launched' these 3-4 months ago (and possibly 'launched' again before that as well).

    • +2

      is it this one???

      http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/60423

must admit, im tempted, but no offense, seeing that it really launched a while back — it does make me assume that it's not as good as i hope it to be? :/

      • The no comment from rep on this says it all.

Launch party this Saturday. You're not invited. http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-a-soft-launch.htm

      • Great customer service right there. What a bloody joke.

          Humour.

"Humour is the tendency of particular cognitive experiences to provoke laughter and provide amusement." -Thanks Wiki.

Bigosmallo, take a chill pill dude.

        • but what if there is a launch party? I felt bad when I read I wasn't invited. It put me off buying their products

Impulse buy. Thanks soundhubs, I hope the sound quality is as good as you say!

I can't find this model CH30 on their webiste, are these genuine? http://www.woodheadphones.com/products-category/on-ear-headp…

    • Wondering the same thing. I'll be using their 14 day return policy if they're not.

      • Think Woodheadphones makes headphones OEM.

        Google Richard Solo esmooth etc.

        No reviews though.

Still, looks nice and was contemplating getting one to transplant some spare Grado drivers I have…

        • Surely, transplanting Grado drivers into these closed enclosures would not result in a desirable sound…

        • @illusionarybreeze

Worth a try since the drivers are spare.

Barring that, I have some AT ES7s I might transfer to these? The ES7s are closed cans so might work better than the Grados.

  • Justfrog - Completely genuine. CH30 is the Australian branded model 820-EB model: http://www.woodheadphones.com/products/es-820eb-ebony-wood-o….

Thanks a bunch for your order twe4ked!

    • Thanks for the clarification. Its worth the $40 just for the looks of it.

      • of course, u can't see them when they're on your head. :p

Bought! I've been thinking about picking up some closed headphones for use on public transport. With no real reviews out there these are a bit of a gamble. But if they genuinely sell for $90 usually, then at the $40 price point they should be pretty decent.

soundhubs: how's the weight on these? I'm guessing the wood makes them noticably heavier than most others?
btw, you might want to adjust the price in your title to $41.95, to include the $2 shipping.

    • Thanks cobalt…appreciate the purchase. You would think the wood would make them heavy but there is no noticeable difference in weight. Very comfortable over long transits. We welcome feedback if you find differently.

    i think i may have found a review…

    http://www.head-fi.org/t/526859/esmooth-gorgeous-headphones/…

Essentially according to the person reviewing them they look nice but sound pretty average.

    • model numbers are different but they look the same.. kinda

Just bought a pair myself. I hope they are worth it. Wonder what the shipment times are going to be like.

Lee (sounhubs rep), so, what is the shipment timing going to be like. I would have expected a shipping notification by now, considering that you had these in stock :)

      • I got my shipping notification email on 20 March 2012 4:57:25 PM AEST

  • My headphones arrived this morning (22nd March). Very happy with the quality of them, they came with a simple pouch for when they are in my bag too. Thanks @soundhubs!

    • Awesome, looking forward to my one as well. Did get my shipping info a couple of hrs after I had commented :)

      Strong new poster.

Arrived and listening to it now. It has a pretty balanced sound and good clarity. Not lack of bass for those who needed. Awesome buy for $41. Not only it sounds good, it's very comfortable and well finished. The given pouch is made with recycled materials; rough but not ugly.
