  • Save $451 on Metropolitan Melbourne installations when signing up to a 24 month monitoring plan

    Sounds targeted at Melbourne folks

  • Melbourne the crime capital of Australia for Break ins?????

    • You are more than 23 times more likely to be broken into at the gold coast than in melbourne

The kits usually run around $600 on eBay iirc. For those who are happy to install themselves and think the price of monitoring is a crock

    • Need to add the GSM communicator and wireless fobs so will be a few hundred more on top…..add the cabling and labor and the deal doesn't seem to bad….

      • +1

Sure. Maybe up to $1200 allowing for the install. Shame it's $1757.

Ps: anyone that uses fobs is an idiot. Alarms should always be turned off with a code only.

        • Why? I've got the Bosch ones and they are great. So much more convenient than fluffing around with a code when you've got a handful of shopping.

          • @The Captain: Fobs are inherently insecure.

Do you leave a spare set of keys in your house?
Or if you lose your keys or leave them in a for outside etc.
Or if you keep a spare in a lockbox etc.

If you wouldn't write down your windows password on a sticky note and attach it to your laptop, don't use a fob.

      • GSM ain't going to do jack these days.

    • I think programming the alarms is very time consuming if you're not a pro. Got Jim's to do my Bosch 3000 and he was at my house until 9pm. 5 wireless PIRs, 1 wired, network adaptor. This RACV deal seems like a pretty good price because the 6000 is aimed at commercial applications and next level up. Also supports WIFI keypad which would have been good for me because it would have been really difficult to do a wired keypad downstairs.

Sounds like he's never done a Bosch before

      • Sounds like Jim's needs to look for a new career path

  • I have the 6000 unit. rate it highly but think your better off spending for the IP module and myalarm subscription so you can manage yourself remotely.

    • What is myalarm subscription? I use the Bosch RSC+ app to send me notifications.

      • Since the 6000 is aimed at commercial applications they use a different app which is a paid subscription. Obviously a big con vs the 3000. Though the RSC+ app is very basic and looks like it was designed in the 90s and never updated

        • Yeah it's not the best but I wouldn't say 90s - no apps then. It's more like a mid-2000s app. However it does allow me to arm and disarm (cannot disarm zones even though the option is there but greyed out), sends me notifications of arming, disarming, alarm going off and which zone, if any zone has any issues - including low battery for wireless PIRs, shows, which zones are armed, if power/ panel/ sensor is disconnected or tampered. It is a lot more stable than when it first came out as well. Pretty good for a free service.

      • I think I pay about 110 per year. It’s good let’s me remote arm and disarm etc etc
