I'm looking for a laptop with a long battery life, however would still prefer it to have a 15" screen and reasonable amounts of hard disk space.
I'm leaning towards an Acer TimelineX. There's one on MSY's site for 659 (after cash back) but unfortunately they only have stock left in QLD and SA (I'm from VIC).
Next best price i could find was here:

Are there any other good models of laptops I should be looking into or better prices on the TimelineX?

Its a bit more expensive than the one above but a lot more powerful.
The Battery life really depends on how you use your laptop (like whether you turn off unused things, reduce the screen brightness or whether you put it on power saving mode or high performance mode, ect. You can also go into control panel and change how much power is used by your wifi and processor when on battery) However, it does has a 8cell battery so you should be fine for 5 or 6 hours.

Lenovo E520 with Core i3 + 500GB HDD upgrade + 8 cell battery upgrade is only $559 AUD delivered.

The 4GB RAM upgrade is fairly pricey though, so I recommend popping into a computer store and getting yourself a 2GB DDR3 1333mhz SODIMM module for around $22~25, and upgrading it yourself.
Lenovo would usually charge $49 for an extra 2GB of RAM, which is not worth it.
