US$50 of BTC with US$100 BTC Purchase at Blockchain.com (New Users)

820

Blockchain.com is 10 years old and is celebrating with US$50 of crypto with a US$100 purchase.

Moko (translated):

With a purchase price of 90 €, I lost about 2.30 € in spread / fees. Compared to other exchanges, that's a lot. So it's best to just use it for this action 🐊

Just entered email, password, confirm email, confirm authorized login, buy bitcoin (did $105 USD), add name/dob/address, enter credit card (e.g. ING refunds foreign transaction fee), processing (takes up to 1 minute), verify gold level (photo of license via webcam, take selfie). Wait for bonus to hit account.

To be eligible for the Promotion, you must either be: 1) a new Blockchain.com Wallet user, or 2) an existing Blockchain.com Wallet user with an unverified account and with no previous purchase history prior to the start of the Promotional Period (“Eligible Participants”). Eligible Participants have or sign up for a Blockchain.com Wallet account, verify their account to Gold level, and purchase at least USD $100 or the local equivalent of crypto using fiat on their first purchase during the Promotional Period (a “Qualifying Purchase”).

The first 20,000 Eligible Participants to make a Qualifying Purchase during the Promotional Period shall receive USD $50 or the local equivalent in bitcoin (the “Bonus”). The Bonus shall be deposited directly into your Blockchain.com Wallet account beginning on or around November 15, 2021, with the amount of bitcoin determined by the conversion rate at or around the time of deposit, as determined by Blockchain.com in its sole discretion.

Seems you need to keep it in the account for 2 weeks. So as long as BTC doesn't fall ~44%, you should still be ahead.

All bonuses will be paid around November 15, 2021.

    • Some will sell but why honestly ? Taproot will upgrade bitcoin which is targeted for November. You can borrow $$ on a dex or exchange or just earn interest for the rest of your life.

  • so better buy when closer to 15 Nov for more price certainty? 3 weeks is long long time in crypto universe.

    • +1

      Possibly but:

The first 20,000 Eligible Participants to make a Qualifying Purchase during the Promotional Period

so may reach the limit before Nov 15.

    Isn't bitcoin a scam?

    • +1

Yes, one in which 98%+ of people are currently either in profit or break even if they purchased and didn't sell … and one in which is the legal currency in one country and more to come.

      • -1

        That doesn't sound sustainable

        • What doesn't sound sustainable?

They are now expecting property prices to rise 22% for the full calendar year 2021 (up from its previous forecast of 18%) and they have also lifted their outlook for next year from 5% to 8%.

It will be a spectacular spectacle if the housing market ever goes pop.

          That doesn't sound sustainable

You know what is unsustainable? Inflation from printing new money to pay government debt. Go in with an open mind and read "The Bitcoin Standard". Bitcoin has been presented as one alternative to combat inflation and is one of the reason El Salvador now has it as one of their official currencies.

Bitcoin has been around for 12 years now, a sufficient number of years have passed now to know it is not a scam. And to call it a scam is really due to not having an understanding of what it is.

I would understand your concerns if this was perhaps the noughties or early last decade but we are already so past that concern. Wouldn't hurt having some "just in case". US$100K per Bitcoin is looking quite likely by end of year, and it has only just recently hit a new all time high. Price just needs to go up a few more thousand and it will overtake the market cap of silver. The US SEC has finally approved three ETFs this week and next on NASDAQ.

Yes, past performance is not indicative of future results but the price has consistently risen. Bitcoin has done two things - either 1) gone up, or 2) gone down and then up.

Historical bitcoin prices for Oct 22th

          2021 - $62947
          2020 - $11354
          2019 - $8043
          2018 - $6438
          2017 - $5624
          2016 - $640
          2015 - $266
          2014 - $382
          2013 - $141
          2012 - $11
          2011 - $2.85
          2010 - $0.10

Take care, and enjoy your weekend.

  • I purchased 100 AUD instead of 100 USD lol what to do?

    • Ouch. You can probably withdraw the btc to your usual wallet, close the account on blockchain.com and create a new one then

  • +2

"could not save my card details" error 🤷‍♂️
I guess have to keep working after all.

  • Anyone knows if there is a confirmation on the account to say that you will be receiving the bonus?

  • So just to confirm, you can buy any crypto from them as long as it is US$100 or more, doesn't have to be Bitcoin right?

What's a good crypto to buy? I was going to buy ADA or XRP but they don't seem to have either of those? Maybe just go with USDT?

  • Bought $100 USD as needed.

Can anyone please guide me how to withdraw / sell from Blockchain.com? Sorry, a newbie here.

When I pressed 'Sell', it has the selections: To USD account, To GBP account, To EUR account.
There is no TO AUD Account selection.

I read that you can withdraw to own wallet, what does that mean please?
I have a Coinspot account. Does that mean I can withdraw to my Coinspot account?

    Thanks. Much appreciated.

    • +1

You can send the cryptocurrency purchased to another exchange (such as CoinSpot, as you mentioned) and sell it on from there.

      • +1

Any idea what the fee is for doing this?

        • +1

sending fee is block chain fees (0.7-$1 usd) Bitcoin sometimes trades higher on coinspot then it does on most of the other international exchanges, you may end up with more then the fees/spread.

          • +1

@shadowangel: I must have done something wrong as mine shows USD$12 fee to send the 100USD btc to Binance?

      • Thanks, I'll try

    • +1

import the seed words, then you can use any good bitcoin wallet. no need to use the site after you have made your purchase.

      • Cheers mate, will try

      • Have u actually been able to withdraw from Blockchain? I tested with small XLM deposit to their exchange, and it's impossible to withdraw back. It's always been rejected right away (as if, it never goes to the XLM network but been rejected by them). I haven't tried to transfer it to their wallet (yes, their wallet and exchange has separate XLM address, as they treat that as 2 different entities), because their (private) wallet for XLM doesn't even have memo, which is strange. Their support is useless too (keep sending me help URL that doesn't even correspond to what their website is doing - like outdated help with some broken link)

        • There should be an option to export the private keys, export to your own wallet.. There should not be any rejections on there side they do not have access to your wallet. It may have to do with Xlm Trust Lines.

      • Sorry, how do you find your blockchain seed and import seed to your own wallet?

  • Hmm seems the steps are a bit confusing:

    From their website https://www.blockchain.com/birthdaybonus

    Step 1
    Sign Up & Verify
Create an account on the web or download the app.

But I don't think you can verify at that stage with a brand new account? I only verified after Step 3 which was buying the US$100 worth of crypto? Does that mean I am ineligible for the bonus because I bought the crypto and then verified my account, and not the other way around?

Also confirming US$100 of USDT is fine to buy right, it doesn't have to be BTC?

  • With all these discussions… I am just wondering how many actually sign up for this bonus?

  • I followed OPs directions and did this:

Just entered email, password, confirm email, confirm authorized login, buy bitcoin (did $105 USD), add name/dob/address, enter credit card (e.g. ING refunds foreign transaction fee), processing (takes up to 1 minute), verify gold level (photo of license via webcam, take selfie). Wait for bonus to hit account.

    Waiting for bonus now

  • Ive confirmed my account/identity, but it keeps failing when I try and add my Coles Mastercard. Default currency is set to USD.
Anyone else find the website runs very sluggishly ?

Edit: chatted with support - they say my card is blocked - and to talk to my credit card provider. Strange as I buy stuff in USD on this card all the time.

    • Figured it out - Citibank (who provide Coles Mastercard) do not allow any crypto/trading transactions via their credit cards - so blocked for any amount.

Id need to use a different credit card.. although I think my only other one is an Amex which is not supported on this platform..

      • Legacy banks that block digital assets ngmi. Citibank will get blockbustered.

      • Use debit, banks will charge a cash advance fee on credit cards

  • Has anyone received the extra bitcoin yet?

  • Wondering when this will be paid out

    • From 16th tomorrow (it's American date)

  • I'm waiting for the extra $50 to arrive before i transfer out. But i cant see any option to 'send' to a different wallet without paying a massive fee? Can someone explain how they were charged less?

    Network Fee
    0.0002 BTC
    ($13.16)

    • Download a decent wallet and import the keys. Like Atomic wallet. Blockchain is a non-custodial web wallet

      • will this be fee-free, exporting to private wallet? or better to sell the bitcoin and get USD and transfer back?

      • Could we export it to Trust Wallet?

That’s where I’m going to store my BNB so it’d be good to keep them in one wallet.

        • Yes, settings > import then click multi-coin wallet. make sure to backup your wallets and test the seeds.

          • @shadowangel: Awesome cheers how do I test the seeds?

          • @shadowangel: I went to import my Trust Wallet but it's a recovery phase. Do you know a safe way to convert to a private key?

I found this Code Converter website listed on a few blogs but is it safe?

            • @bobwokeup: Ian Coleman you can download the app and run it offline on a desktop, it's an html file. His developed many recovery tools in this space and is very knowledgeable.

      • +1

The payout is to your trading account, which according to blockchain.com, is custodial , so I think you'll unfortunately have to cop the fees if you want to transfer out

        • +1

sneeky, trade to xlm to save transfer fees.

          • +1

@shadowangel: what's the network fees on blockchain for xlm transfer? I'll eventually swap it for another crypto but was wondering if selling and withdrawing fiat on blockchain would be less trouble than transferring crypto

            • @Kremleen: This article says 0.00001 XLM - the question would be when’s a good time to convert then withdraw?

              • @bobwokeup: Someone above posted they had issues withdrawing XLM? (Being rejected by Blockchain)

Can someone confirm they were able to do this successfully?

So BTC transfer fee is around $12-13 if you want to move it to another exchange?

              • @bobwokeup: So I transferred and withdrew the funds through XLM and here's my experience:

                • No swapping fees but spreads is there
                • Withdrawing fees is 1 XLM
                • Under 1 minute confirmation
                • Ended up with the same amount of fiat as withdrawing using BTC

I got a total of $132 USD (bought $105 USD of BTC at sign up) after transfer so lost $18 USD for spreads, fees and lower price of BTC than at the time of the reward. I'd say it doesnt matter when you do it as the value of your portfolio gets higher in terms of fiat, so does the fees

                • +1

@Kremleen: Just saw this now. Not sure why tags don’t work well on this site. Maybe it’s when other comments are made I only see the latest one?!

Wow that is a huge spread. I’m going to try and send the BTC to my Trust Wallet. The process to do that is tedious but I like trying new ways so I’ll report back once I’ve done it.

  • Signed up, verified and deposited on 12 Nov. Just received the bonus ($49.82USD)

  • Mine arrived too, signed up when this was originally posted.

  • Received the bonus. Yea

  • Got my bonus too

  • +1

Got the bonus too. Anyone know how do you sell to fiat and transfer fiat back into the bank account?

    • +1

Withdraw to an exchange or card like wirex, crypto.com

      • Thanks, yeah just realised Blockchain dot com does not fully offer a feature to withdraw out into bank accounts.

  • Got the bonus… whats the best way to avoid the huge fee to withdraw?

    • Hodl is the only way to avoid fees.

    • Swap for xlm, ltc, stx. Check the wallets to make sure withdrawals are enabled before swapping

      • now i have xlm in my atomic wallet whats the best way to withdraw? noob here

        • Send to an exchange. Coinspot, binance. Check the referals section for coinspot free $10 there too.

          Swap for Aud

  • +2

Well, received no bonus and first they think I'm not gold verified even though it says I am. When trying to buy or sell Bitcoin it now says:

    ID Verification Pending
We are currently reviewing your application. Hang tight! In just a few minutes you will be all set to trade cryptocurrency. You should receive an update within 5 minutes.

    They also said:

Promotions for those first 20k (limited to this amount) users who met the criteria would be deposited after the 15th. If you dont see it I would say by the end of this week. it is possible you were not eligible or you didnt catch a spot out of the 20k winners.

Which is also bullshit obviously. Will try again at the end of the week but so far pretty crap.

    • Same here. Not getting anything

      • Haven't got the bonus yet too. 😕

        • +1

I was told all bonus has been paid out. If you haven't received it, you are probably not eligible

        • Can easily still double it Bitstamp > Nexo > Gemini > Celsius referals.

  • Their private key didn't work so I had to sell my xlm and then swap it for btc again so I could send it to another exchange and pay their exorbitant network fee.
