Ok, well I've purchased the LG Optimus 7 from COTD and waiting its arrival I decided to see what I can do with this little beast and came across the ability to access the 'MFG' menu. Apparently you can access this menu and change the carriers and what not, so I was curious to see if current owners of this phone can access this.
I also found out this on XDA developers;
Wow, I was able to turn my PDC VodaPhone UK LG-E900 version into an ATT version. I'm now getting the sweet "H" in the top. It also is downloading at 4 mbps via on the phone now! Verified via testmy.net.
Thanks guys!
For those who are curious.
To turn this into an AT&T Phone:
Once in the MFG Menu…
1. click 7 for Engineer Settings.
2. then click 6 for Other Settings.
3. Select Set Network Profiles.
Find "_PROV_ATT_US_310_410.xml"
Select that one. Back out of the menus and reboot the phone.It will now even say ATT in the marketplace.
Thanks again everyone!

So what I thought was maybe you could make this phone access the 850Mhz network for Next G. AT&T uses the 850Mhz network in the USA so maybe as the guy on XDA said he was able to get a faster connection as he was able to access the other frequencies? I could be wrong but would be awesome if someone with this phone and a Telstra sim could try it out ;)

Realise the top two are for the model with the keyboard but tis basically the same phone, and I know you can get to the MFG on the non keyboard version.
Im sure many people would be interested if this works;)
perhaps asking in xda would get you better answers
