How much are they normally at Woolies?

Plastic bags seem to work fine for me - ozbargain style - and they're FREE :)

    • regular plastic bags won't work at all if you want to keep wires and chargers tidy.

    • Hey why neg my post? I'm just super excited about this awesome deal! Geez!

  • Barcodes never work on anything that comes from my printer, like plane tickets- they always have to key it in. Do you reckon this one has more chance of scanning if I print as is, or enlarged?

    • they can enter the numbers above the barcode if the scanner doesn't work, can't they?

  • Worked fine for me at the self check out :-)

      what was the final price?

      • +3

        i want to know aswell..

        • +1

For an estimate - the woolies online shop sells them for $5.58 regular price, so I'd say you'd be paying ~$2.50 with the coupon in store.

    Surprisingly popular.
Must be a lot of students on here that BYO sandwiches. Or perhaps successful dealers :)

dealers using these snaplock bags, that would be the day

  • +3

I use them for separating stuff in big boxes into findable units.

Good idea. For small stuff, my father uses free coin bags from the banks. He claims he's been with the bank for over 50 years and has a right to a small perk… but I just think he'd make a great ozbargainer ;)

  • I see all the dealers will be using this.

do barcode images on phones scan on checkouts?

    • I would like to know this too

    • +1

Unfortunately no, as the scanners are laser-based. Your screen doesn't reflect light like paper.
It'd have to be a CCD/cmos-based scanner (like how your phone can read qr codes) that's designed to read screens, for it to work.

    • Just to let you know that on last 7eleven free boost bar promo, bar code were scanable from phone.

      • +1

I haven't had a close look at a 7-11 but they're probably using CCD scanners. A CCD one projects a larger usually-constant red, green, or orange light. Laser ones typically use a thin sharp red line or pattern.

Laser scanners are more forgiving in terms of distance and orientation (with an omnidirectional scanner) which shortens acquisition time, so high-volume applications like a grocery checkout would normally use an omni-directional laser scanner instead of CCD. Those won't scan LCD screens, unfortunately. In lower-volume applications like a 7-11, CCD would be preferable as they last longer and have no moving parts.

    • I just tested it and it doesnt work with my barcode scanner here on the iphone.

      • Your phone should be able to scan the barcode on your screen. I just tried it with my android phone with the Barcode Scanner app and it works. Pointless, but it works. :)

  • good one. just gonna buy it

  • These are really handy for storing small parts in.Good find,i'm going to stock up.

  • Just got some last night with no problems. Thanks heaps!
