Been there…the food is absolutely awful

    • Thanks for the heads up.

    • I didn't think it was great, however it doesn't take many oysters and bugs to reach your $25 bucks of value. The rest is pretty much on par with Sizzlers I thought. Not bad, but not great - but that's buffets in general isn't it?

      • But it's $99 for 2…so $50 pp not $25. I do like oysters and bugs but when I went, neither of them tasted nice. shrug

You're right, I dunno where I got $25 from! lol. They weren't the best bugs or oysters I've ever had, certainly, but buffet is by its very nature quantity of quality, and they weren't terrible, I thought.

    • Yeah my brother used to work there so we went for the buffet and the food was not good at all.

    • I thought dessert and seafood were pretty good, but the hot foods were very average.

IIRC, I only paid $80 last time with a voucher from sydney.com or something.

  • any similar deal in VIC/SA?

I could easily eat $50 worth of Moreton bay bugs. So many seafood buffets have dropped it off the selection over the years, its good to see it and for $50 a pop its still a bargain even if all the other food is terrible.

Last time buy 1 get 1 free, so we 4 people pay total around 90-98 only(not include wine but include tea).

It looks like the wine charge 25 each.

  • The picture is deceiving, it looked nothing like that when we went for dinner. The seafood spread was alright but the hot food and dessert was lacking in quantity and quality.

  • poor experience with travelZoo. No refunds if everything was booked out. Customer service didn't care.

sheraton buffet is overprice, food is OK, but for the value its overpriced. At $50/pp its still op.

      • I've actually called a few times, at the end of the day its "sorry, we can't refund, thats our policy, not even after 10 minutes of purchasing and not knowing the schedule wasn't available. It's in the terms and conditions".
It's like saying, if you don't read the tnc, you can even sign your life away.

        • Hi reyBand,

I'm sorry to hear this. If you get in touch through the [email protected] email and mention that you've been in touch with me on Oz Bargain, I'll make sure I take a look into your situation and see that it was handles correctly.

    • Hi Archi,

Nicely picked up! We identified and raised this particular promotion with the restaurant and with Darling Harbour.com before we published the deal. According to both parties, this deal is no longer available, however, the marketing team haven't taken the offer down on their website. You may be able to have them honour the price but as far as we are concerned, the Travelzoo deal is the best price at the time of publish. Also note that the above mentioned deal was for the buffet only on selected dates, whereas the Travelzoo deal include a beer or wine each and is available 7 days for lunch and dinner.

      I hope this clarifies things.

    • Ohhh really that's cool… Bit I no longer can subscribe to the viva card… Ohhh wells

    • Hi furythree,

As jenkei has pointed out, the Viva card promotion has ended so you are unable to get the buffet for the $66 price.

  • Used to be buy one get one free at Viva Sydney, but don't think that's available any more. Went there on two occasions, it was so-so. But people who went with me liked seafood more than I do. -wry-

Go for Archi's link instead if you wanna try it out.

  • Been here before, factoring price and quality, it's one of the better buffets, although I've noticed some not so subtle cost cutting measures such as reducing the quantity of food (one section used to be for salads etc, and is now gone)

The seafood is good for the price, although don't be fooled by the Bugs, they are poor quality (lacking flavour) as they were bought from the supplier already cut in half. The freezing and thawing means all the flavour has gone.

Prawns are nice as usual. Oysters are ok. Blue swimmer crab is standard in hotel buffets although quality can vary.

Before this buffet used to include tea and coffee for free, so to say you get 1 tea or coffee in this deal indicates they have removed the tea/coffee.

Prices for this lunch buffet (factoring discounts) have fluctutated from $25 -$50.

The bottom line: Would I go there? Yes, it's one of the better buffets taking into account the price, but don't expect it to be fantastic. I'd go for $43 although $50 is the max I'd pay.

BTW, go for lunch….then you don't need to have dinner!
