  Really nice jacket even though it's not real down very similar warmth. I will say though even at $179 it's expensive for what it is, you can regularly get the Macpac or Kathmandu lightweight down jackets for under $100 on sale but no doubt many will love it for TNF branding/style. I snagged one for cheap but that was a lucky personal sale, great lightweight summer jacket or midlayer in colder months for sure. Great to their in your backpack just in-case when it's warmer though as it packs down to almost nothing.
  I wouldn't pay more than $100 myself but as someone with teenage nephews I understand the kids want those brand names and sometimes there's no getting around the price premium.

    Thanks - appreciate the review. Sometimes it’s not about the brand though - it’s the synthetic down that appeals to those of us with asthma and allergies. ;-)
    Thermoball has been on my radar for years, but as you say, at three times the price of other options, I generally stuck with polar fleeces. So this is quite appealing!

      I didn't think about the allergy factor. Another plus is they dry a bit quicker than the Kathmandu down ones, both dry out pretty quick but the thermoball doesn't clump ECT which down jacket do if they get soaked esp but it's easy enough to fix throwing them in the dryer for a 10 minutes with a couple of massage balls or tennis balls.
