    gogogo miners let's go!!!

for just few thousands dollar profit a year? better off working at $2 shops.

      • Except with mining you don't have to work 🤔

    Have fun justifying the "bargains"

You're the Bargainjustifier, you should be the one justifying them

    1,999 for 3070???

    • +1

      Non-LHR…

      • RX6800 is also NON LHR and cheaper

        • and NOT $1999

          • @Magicmannn: Although only for preordering, 16GB VRAM is much more future proof than 8GB

            • @BennyHe2018: I’m hoping that by the time 8gb is “redundant”, prices would drop back to normal and you can upgrade to whatever the latest models are.

              • @cnut: Might be quicker than you think. Far Cry 6 needs 11GB of VRAM for it's hi-res texture pack. Battlefield 2042's recommended specs list an RTX3060 (12GB VRAM), although they also mention 8GB for some reason. I dare say many AAA games in the coming year may have similar requirements.

                • @d3al: Yeah.. Nvidia really dropped the ball for VRAM this generation. Seen a few games that max the 3070/3070Ti/3080 VRAM. It'll only become more commonplace.

Hope RTX 4000 series have 2x the VRAM this generation has.

ETH difficulty bomb delayed till May 2022.

HODL crowd going to wait to pay MSRP for an already 1 year old GPU…. by the time it hits MSRP it will probably be closer to 2 year old.

    • +1

We will wait for the new gen at this point.

      • Rinse and repeat the cycle. Those days are gone.

$1999 for 3070 my butt lol

    • -2

Nah your butt probs worth 20c tops.

    • i sold a used 3070 xc3 (December 2020) for $1900 on ebay.

      Miners are willing to pay

      • But like… the 6800 and up mine faster for less brand new…

  • +2

    2 grand for a 3070? Oh, my.

  • This was a while ago but adds an interesting perspective IMHO

Haha all those HODL comments aged like milk.

      • I bought one 3080 in this sale and I use it for gaming and design work a lot and its mined around $800 worth in the downtime. lmao

        • Did you get the LHR or the FHR? I was about to buy one but I couldn't stomach the ugliness haha

        • +2

ROFL, you are talking crap mate. It's not possible to mine $800 in that time.

          • @Ilikecars: https://imgur.com/a/Jv298By

            my brother's one mines too

            • @zilver: zilver. would you mind sharing your OC settings for the phantom 3080? mines top at 99.2Mh/s

              • @moneyorder: to be honest I just use nicehash's pre-defined profile. after messing with manually and auto tuning it i found their preset just seems to run better than anything i could do manually or even when i copied others settings online. i used to have it on the extreme setting and it got like 108mhs but it crashed once in a while so i turned it down

i assume its partly just luck based

        Can you spell HOLD properly?

  • +4

Rather get 6900 xt in other post ….similar hashrate much better value for gaming lol

  • Warning with the Gigabyte Windforce fans, they have a terrible fan curve which causes rattling due to noise resonance.

    Can be fixed with afterburner

  • +1

What a ripoff on the FHR 3070 - best case they do around 60MH/s. For that money you're better off getting a 6900XT (or even an overpriced 6800XT) when it goes on sale @ 64MH/s, not to mention the rasterization performance benefit on the AMD cards.

    • (Complete speculation from me) but even if the hash rate is the same or slightly more wouldn't the 3070 be exceedingly more power efficient than a 6900XT and therefore more profitable?

      • +1

I dont think you'd be spending that sorta money to purely mine tho, its more for the gamer who wants to mine on the side to offset the cost of their card.
Point is tho, if you're going to spend 2k on a card, there's better options out there.

      • +1

6900xt can mine at 64mh/s @140w when undervolted
6800 can do the same hashrate @110-120w

    • rtx cards can do more algos better and is a safer bet for life after ETH 2.0

6800xt and 6900xt are not power efficient, people go for 6800.

      • If its alt-coins you want to mine, better off getting the cheaper LHR card as LHR only affect Ethereum mining.

        • +2

          LHR only affect Ethereum mining

          It also affects Ergo.

  • anyone have a rough idea on upgrading to 3060 Ti from 1080 Ti?

    • Virtually identical card. not worth it imo

      • would that be the same case for 1440p gaming ?
Recently purchased 1440p monitor without researching how it would affect my 1080ti lol

        • They're both much of a muchness. What issues are you having with 1440p gaming with the 1080ti? It's pretty much the card for 1440p gaming.

          • @ONEMariachi: hmm I see,
I'm currently playing Escape from Tarkov in 1440p but in lower gfx settings. However I notice frame fluctuates like crazy.
I also might pick up battlefield in the future.

        • I get around 70 to 80 fps on my GTX 1080 in most games with a slight tweak (no visual difference). That I feel is decent with gsync. With 1080Ti, it should be much better.

          • @[Deactivated]: I see, I think I need to look more into the tweaking before I fork out $$ for no reason lol

            • @Dfresh: I would just wait another year and get the 4000 series. 1080ti is a pretty capable card in most games.

    • the 3060 ti is somewhere in the 10 - 20% faster in most games but not really worth an upgrade unless you can get back most of the cost from selling on your old gpu.

  • Also I won’t be surprised if lhr unlock to 100% soon….making non lhr card less desirable. I was able to get 46mhs with my 3070 before

  • +2

even techfast decided to milk GPU as well.

    • yeah im surprised actually.

  • Disappointing to see TechFast do this…. :(

  • +2

That 3070 non LHR is probably the most offensive pricing I've ever seen from techfast :( end of an era.

  • +1

Wasn't this generation supposed to be the affortable generation. The 2000 series pricing looks cheap in comparison now.

    • +1

We've encountered a perfect storm of reasons that have driven the prices up well above RRP. It was fine when they released.

  • Techfast cranked up their prices. Few days ago 5600x 3080 system was $2998 now it's $3300.

  • I bought my FHR 3070s from tech fast for the equivalent of $900. $2000 is a bad move from tech fast. Even with $150 profit after electricity, it take 10 month to match MSRP, and the hardware would have degraded badly

    • Hardware degrade is almost a myth. It can damage GPU if not cooled properly when each GPU is sitting on top of each other (like mining farms). But, in normal circumstances where people game and mine when not gaming, it doesn't degrade.

      • I have been through this with someone else before, I have to gradually turn down memory over clock in my 3070 mining rig to keep them from crashing. They are on open frame running at 40 to 45 at core temperature.
        Mining does degrade hardware.

        • Your memory overclock has never been stable. Linus debunked it also. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hKqVvXTanzI

          • @lookingforTV: Correct me if im wrong he only tested core clock, where as mining stress memory?
I would say running fine for 15-30 days, then wont run smoothly for more than 1 day, until I wind back memory clock, is an indicator of memory degradation.
Even Linus himself said thermal expansion kills electronic.

            • @s20525xxx: He didn’t just test core clock.. he ran benchmarks which use both core/memory. If you overclocked, and didn’t manage heat - that’s a result of not taking necessary steps to provide sufficient cooling - hence my original comment.

GPU doesn’t differentiate its work from mining or gaming - but it’s other things that people to make mining more cost effective (undervolting/overclocking) that “may” cause hardware degrade.

If the GPU reaches its boost clock and maintains its original performance, then there is no hardware degradation. It’s still performing at the level that manufacturers expected to, shown in Linus’s video.

In your case, your memory clock isn’t reaching to what you think was the maximum but that clock value was set by you through overclocking, not by manufacturer.

Mining activities themselves do not cause degradation.
