The Mrs is a biscuit fiend and buys minimum 2x packs of Arnott's every week which as an Ozbargainer adds up quite a lot. I asked if she had tried the homebrand ones and she stuck her nose up at me like some biscuit snob. Anyway this led me to run a bait n switch exercise where I bought the homebrand Coles mint slices and Arnott's. I brought them home, took both biscuits out and swapped the packs. Told the wife I had a few but the rest were all hers (Arnott's). She gladly went on to eat them all, after which I asked if she noticed anything, "nope". Brought out the homebrand packet and she bawked at my madness. Got her to try one and she said she could tell the difference and weren't as good. I told her I had already swapped them out and she was eating the Coles homebrand mint slices. After some discussion she agreed there really wasn't much difference at all and was happy to go with the Coles homebrand for those from then on.
After many trials going through Coles and Woolies homebrand biscuits we have found that the Coles homebrand biscuits do a very good job of stacking up to / matching Arnott's and can't really tell the difference. Woolies on the other hand are woeful at biscuit making and should be avoided.
Has anyone else done some biscuit tasting and found this? If not and you like a good bikkie, get out and try Coles homebrand, even the cream wafers are great.
TLDR: Coles homebrand biscuits are just as good as Arnott's, don't buy Woolies homebrand though
I'm honestly not too picky with if it's home brand or not, Coles and Woolies do decent home brand chips and things like that. If one is on special, I'll get that.
