  • Looks like a good drive, benchmarks much faster than the Crucial M4 from what I can see: http://www.reghardware.com/2012/03/13/review_sandisk_extreme…

Nope, every figure under the Crystal test is slower than the 128 M4 from crucial.
Especially 4K QD32, less than half the speed of the M4 Crucial, that said SSD are all fast period.

    Cheers

    • Well I have looked at a few benchmarks for the M4 on different sites now, seems quite variable but that's probably dependant on firmware. Overall though you are right the M4 seems to be marginally quicker, didn't find any where it was double the speed on the 4K QD32 test though. But you can't go wrong either would make a good improvement on a normal drive :)

      • Looking is one thing performing the test yourself is another.

    • "that said SSD are all fast period."

not my mates he bought one of the cheaper kingston SSDs its a POS.

      • compared to HDD ?

yep… looks like that model has issues, write speed is MUCH slower than a conventional HDD.

  • Toms Hardware reviewed this drive (240GB Chrono)as excellent value for money and it right up their with the vertex 3 for speed.

Muskin purchase page postage to me - but even so a nice strong dollar makes this look great.

Get the M4 from Amazon and save a couple bucks (although theyre not as cheap as they have been)

    • Anyone knows why some SSD are in a multiple of 60GB and some are in a multiple of 64GB ? Does the one on multiple of 64GB has more space or they are basically the same?

      eg. Sandisks' are 120 and 240, M4's are 64, 128, 256. The 256 version has 16GB more than 240.

      • My M4 shows it has 238gb when I purchased a 256gb one.
Hope this helps your quest to freedom ;)

        • So are you saying the labelled 240 = 256 ? It's just how they choose to advertise their product?
