SteelSeries Arctis 7 is the headphone of choice in that bracket at the moment.

Similar situation to you earlier this year and ended up on a shortlist of SteelSeries and Corsair.

Went for the Corsair Virtuoso over the SteelSeries based on a number of reviews and comparisons between them.

Can't fault it.

I curious what connections a (premium) wireless headset offers for low latency. Presumably Bluetooth AptX? Or do some use proprietary dongles etc?

My cheap solution is a cable into my Xbox controller which affords me 'wireless' low-latency audio…

  Lossless 2.4 GHz wireless connections. Bluetooth will always have delay, fine for audio-only but not synced audio/video.

    Hence why I asked about aptX, which is low latency. No delay but requires aptX Bluetooth devices on both ends
    
    So if these are all proprietary, are they using USB or line in dongles to transmit?
