Hi Camera geeks,
which one of the two options do you guys suggest in buying mainly for portraits ?
Hi Camera geeks,

I think the best thing to do is to firstly understand what focal length you enjoy / want to shoot for portraits (like brendanm is suggesting). If you're asking purely with respect to a choice between the two models, then I guess it's time to dive through many many sample photos and technical data sheets!! OR be good friends with people that own these lenses so you can try them out ;)
I haven't heard of a Tamaron lens ever being better. For portraits just get a 50mm Sony FE 1.8. Cheap and good.
Depends what you mean by better. I reckon Tamron's 70-180mm is better than Sony's equivalent for most people, just because it's so much smaller/lighter for very similar performance. Quality is not the only thing people look for when buying a lens.
Also just get native sony E mount lenses for the A7. You don't want to bother with adapters unless you have to.
Yep, there are enough native E mount lenses that you don't have to fiddle with an adapter. Unless you're wanting something specific.
35mm is too wide for portraits
Depends what kind of portraits they're going for? There seems to be a trend on social media of people using ultra wides for close up full body portraits. Not sure what I think about that but there is definitely a market for it. Personally I prefer an 85mm for head-shot style portraits.
Also MS Paint your profile picture is very confusing.
I wouldn't really use 35mm for portraits. You will need to be somewhat close to your subject to actually get a portrait picture. 35mm is mainly used for street photography and some landscape photography. If you want a good portrait lens, you might want to consider 85mm 1.4, 100mm 2.8, or 135mm f1.8. Those two will give you amazing portrait photos.
Let me reiterate the question.
Which lens is better out of these two ?
35mm F1.4 DG DN for Sony E Mount (2021 Model) vs Tamron SP 35mm F/1.4 Di USD Canon via MC-11 mount for A7iii
Why ask again? You asked about these two mainly for portraits. Both of them are excellent lenses but poor choices for portraits.
Have you used a 35mm for portraits on full frame before? I use a 30mm on aps-c (48mm equivalent) with my little one sometimes, it's not the classic "portrait" look, if that's what you're after.
