Solt 8kg Front Load Washer $395 + Delivery ($0 C&C) @ The Good Guys

470

Received an email from TGG this morning, I think it is Pretty good value, cheap not sure about quality though.

This white Solt front load washing machine has a high 4 star WELS water rating for water bill savings, and the capacity to wash 8kg of dry laundry per load so you can wash heavy and light loads alike for a three to four person household. You can select the setting for best washing results with its 16 types of washing programs. The white Solt GGSFLW80 features a high 1400 rpm maximum spin speed, allowing you to wring all of the moisture out of the clothes fibers. It has a delayed start setting, a safety lock, and a 3 star energy rating. This white front load washing machine is 850mm high, 595mm wide, and 565 mm deep, so take careful measurements of where your washer needs to fit, leaving enough space for the door to open and for a dryer to be wall-mounted above if you want to save floor space.

Thanks

This looks to be the same as the Teka model rebadged, so amazing value!! My parents have the 7.5kg TEKA version of this and swear by it 5 years later.

    Not worth its solt

  • I wish I brought this, I got a 12kg LG washing machine from the Good guys last October for $1300 and part of the seal ripped (a little tiny rip) at the front of the washing machine after a wash. (It leaks everywhere at the front) Now the good guys and lg said it’s not their problem and have to find someone to fix it.
Now I know not to get an expensive one anymore.

    • +2

Surely you can buy a replacement seal yourself and then diy?

      • +1

Yes, but they can be a PITA to install.

    • +7

I would take that up with consumer fair trading. Your entitled to a replacement.

      • Who can I speak too? I have spoken to the good guys and they told me it’s got nothing to do with them. I also spoke to LG and they told me it’s not covered under warranty.

        • +1

I wouldn't waste your time fighting this.

Door seal tearing happens part of the clothing is left hanging out when you're loading the machine.

When you shut the door to start cycle, the clothing gets jammed between the door and seal and the pulling of the clothing when the drum starts turning tears the seal.

I say this with 100% certainty as the tear is always on the bottom.

You could probably repair this some polyurethane sealant from Bunnings.

    • +2

depending on the size of the tear you can use a bike puncture repair kit or similar to fix it rather than replacing the whole seal

Sigh Is this still an issue for LG? Had the same issue on ours about 5-6 years ago. 2 seals were replaced under warranty for same issue, tearing at front. Repair man who came to replace said it was a design issue on the original design of seal. The second seal was a different part number and was fine until usual LG quality kicked in and drain pump died. Would never touch an LG appliance again, sorry. LG customer service isn't just bad.. it's totally non existent.

      how old was it?

maybe try using some silicone sealant underneath the seal.

    • "amygirl" Have to ask if nothing sharp that you know of might have nicked it or cut it, or no abnormal use was done at all?

If not someone should be responsible surely. Hope you can sort it soon.

Also Haier 7.5 kg is on sale at Goodgusy ebay for $420 probably better than this Solt brand.

    • Haier is owner of F&P (which is no longer NZ owned)

      • Haier/F&P is 46% owned by the Chinese gov. Massive Shame.

Does anyone know who is the contract manufacturer for Solt washer.

The first reply post says Solt washer is Teka rebadged; if so it should be better than Haier

  • any recommendations for a top load washing machine?
my one is on its final legs

    • Don't get an impeller one. Twist the absolute ___ out of your clothes

      • buy the propeller version. clothes fly!

  • +2

Every front loader wash machine review says seal issues and water leak including LG, Stirling (Aldi) and other brands.

Is it due to improper use as I have used a front loading machine for a very long time without any issues

Just FYI Afterpay has $10 off for orders from the good guys at the moment and if you select premium delivery you don't have to pay for delivery. (yes you read that right)
