  • do you need to have powerpoint pre-install to use this? external wall or internal

    • These are poe cameras, you will need to run a network cable and either use a poe switch, poe injector or poe nvr.

      • Can you run cat cable up existing power point, so replacing existing cover for another with power and Ethernet port? So not need to drill new holes through studs

        • Yehh that a Big No you cant run catx parallel to hv without conduit. Your question is confusing tho, to drill holes in the studs you must be talking about a new build yet you mention replace

          • @DoesntEvenMatter: Well you have drill holes through the bridging studs or at least top stud to run a new cable up the wall. I was thinking if you just use existing power point then run cable up that way.

I’m guessing hv = high voltage, so you need to shield the catx in it, which could make it a very tight squeeze if even possible…

            • @MuddyClear: Depends on the frame work. The cross studs could be a smaller width so cable can pass behind it, if it's not possible they would usually run on a external wall. In no install would you ever see a power cable and a cat cable run through the same hole, that's not to code

        • I'm not a sparky but recently have done similar to what you wanted to do. The sparky had install a new faceplate on the wall that consists of 1 hole for all the CAT cables to come into the house. The only difference was we didnt have an exist power point, they had to install the wall plate from scratch and our wall plate has no power point built-in

  • I use the Roelink 4k POE. They are $120. Why are these better OP?

    • Different sensor size, and different lens. Generally resulting in better night vision

  • This the IPC-ColorX-4K?

  • Anyone else having trouble getting the discount code to work?
