Issue with Kogan - Delayed Nintendo Switch OLED Release

Rant Begin

I pre-ordered the Switch OLED on Kogan as part of the Klarna deal where there was a $100 rebate on the 4 installment.

Did this about 6 weeks ago, pre-paid and got an email today from Kogan saying:

We regret to inform you that, due to circumstances beyond our control, we are unable to ship your Nintendo Switch Console OLED Model (Neon) as quickly as originally expected.

We are now expecting your order to be dispatched by October 29, 2021.

I've cancelled expecting a full refund. I bought from JB today and collected 15 minutes later.

As much as I try to like Kogan, they just suck 9 times out of 10

        Kogan will refund to the method you paid
        You paid Klarna so they will refund to Klarna.
        Klarna will remove your $100 discount and refund you -$100 as you didn’t technically pay it.

        • Will wait and see. To be honest, I couldn't care less. I used a 500 JB voucher from my credit card points and selling my old one for 250.

          To take a pre order and not have stock and be out by 3 weeks is simply crap.

          No way Kogan will directly deposit you the money back.
          Stores will refund the same method you paid and Klarna will refund the amount you paid; discount has been lost.

          There is a reason why Kogan are bottom in almost any customer satisfaction analysis

    My mail said 19 October. They are just giving us random dates as they have no clue. Great service, first time I use Kogan. Never again.

    My date for white version is 19th Oct and my expectation was it should at least get shipped out today. Well I guess I can wait for the sake of Klarna saving, but I’ll try to avoid them in the future.

    Amazon ensured it was delivered on launch, seems like clowns are running Kogan's logistics.

    I too am pretty annoyed OP. I ordered my white OLED Switch on 12/08/2021 and expected it to ship on the 6th or 7th of October so I would receive it by Friday 8th October (release day) or Monday 11th October at the absolute latest. I never received a shipping confirmation email so I kept logging into their website and could see it hadn't shipped yet so I figured they must have been waiting until the actual day of release before shipping it which would be annoying enough as it is.

    I know people that picked up the console on release day from EB so when I received the email to say they won't be shipping it any earlier than 19 October (11 days after release) despite holding on to $539 of my money two months ahead of release, I was pretty peeved. I signed up to the Kogan First membership for the Switch too. I wondered what value their membership is worth. Kogan has kindly advised me it is some arbitrary amount below $0.00.

      yeah - it is pretty crap. I rocked up to JB 15 minutes after click and collect and had it in my hands. the white one too.

      The new screen is a much bigger improvement than I expected. both bigger and punchier.

    Similar email but happy to wait. We have a lite and there's no rush. Yes, would like it sooner but it was a nice discount and the sky won't fall.

    I usually hate being a Karen but is there any avenue we can explore to dob Kogan in? If EB can deliver the stock to customers on release day, does that mean Nintendo gave stock to them and nobody else or does it mean Kogan took money for stock they didn't have and knew they would never have? Kogan had no warning on the product page that it would be sent much later after launch nor did they send any communication that we wouldn't be getting them straight away. The email we got was late in the afternoon of release day. I now have Metroid sitting in my room, waiting to be played.

      I think you are right Kogan was too lazy to arrange with Nintendo for preorders, but still happily collected purchase amount. Nintendo would have been working with all genuine preordering stores to make sure it was available/delivered on the launch. I doubt if Kogan can still ship on 18th as the availability will only get worse going forward. #nevertrustkogan

      Lucky you, mine is still EXPECTED DISPATCH DATE: 19 OCTOBER 2021.

    • Oof, I placed my order on 11/08 which I think was the earliest date for the Klarna deal. It still says 19 October for dispatch.

      Are you in Victoria? Kogan warehouse is in Melb so I assume Sydney-siders are getting a longer delay.

      Also f*** Kogan for being the only retailer who doesn't understand how to stock and ship pre-orders so that it arrives on the actual release date.

    Dispatched 17/10. Fingers crossed it's not sitting with AusPost for 3 weeks

  • Dispatched on 16/10 but far out Auspost pushed my estimate delivery to next week

    Received a shipment created email on the 16/10

    Still no movement on the tracking to this day and Kogan are blaming Toll, when Toll are saying it never actually been put out to be collected from the warehouse.

    Generic corporate replies from Kogan on email and today they offer to send a replacement as part of the pre order that “might “ be despatched on 29/11 nearly 2 and a half months post initial order being placed

    I got my Klarna refund. Lost my $100 but got my switch on release day and used vouchers so it's all net imho.

  • I never knew Kogan was that bad. I had something that was meant to be express posted, still haven’t seen in 2 weeks later. They said it’s lost but auspost is saying it’s redirected back to them and not deemed lost. Their customer service is almost non existent.

      yep - they consistently rate last. Compared to the Pixel 6 I pre-ordered. Arrived to my house on release day from Vodafone.
