Recommend Me Bagless/Stick Vacuum $100-$150

Hi OzB,

My vacuum has had it's last days & in search for replacement.

Usually I'd go for Kmart ones, but the reviews are not that great this time around.

Went into Godfrey's a few times previously and always get this snakey salesman vibes, and end up walking out just to avoid further conversations with the rep - although open to their vacs if people can vouch for their quality.

Was considering:
This $99 Big W one but there's not a lot of reviews.
Airflo $110 @Catch
At the very top of the budget I will consider something like this $199 Electrolux one

Open to other suggestions:
* Corded is fine. Must be bagless. Doesn't have to have hard/carpet heads. No robot/handheld/wet vacs. Don't have pets.

Cheers fam!

I still recommend the Kmart one above those:

    • Thanks for your reply - as my research shows, the Kmart ones do not have great reviews. I will be passing them this time around

      • I don't know where you are looking at but currently the review sits at 4.5 / 5 Stars.

I bought my unit when this first released, there were little/no reviews for it back then. So I had to look at all the alternatives at BigW, Aldi, Bunnings, Godfrey's etc etc. And I specifically didn't look at reviews because they aren't always accurate, I wanted to touch and see the product in-hand. I was tossing up between buying an expensive Dyson using it for a decade, versus buying a cheap unit and replacing it every year or so. I have been following the latter tactic so far, and not too impressed by the different units I bought previously.

Inspecting all these budget vacuums, what I noticed is the Kmart unit has many design aspects (internally) which they have plagiarised off the more expensive name-brand units. The fit and finish was sturdy, which surprised me. The other cheap units were clearly inferior. It was an easy choice, really. So it's going to last, not too far off from a Dyson.

And I'm really happy with my unit. I abuse it so much that I'm on the hit-list when the Robot Apocalypse comes. But this little unit just keeps on humming and humming. When I win and it eventually dies, I will repeat my previous look/inspection at all the alternatives and see which one is more sturdy and designed better, and buy within a budget. I am expecting the Kmart knock-off to win again.
