  • LIES. You only pay $24.95 and free international shipping through https://www.zagg.com/invisibleshield.

Plus I would rather deal with the company direct who manfactures the product for lifetime warranty claims than go through a third party who just resell the product.

  • I'm sorry but you are mistaken.

You pay $24.95 USD (not AUD), which currently converts to $31.45 AUD, plus you will also pay your bank a currency conversion fee of 1-2% of the price depending on your bank. You will then wait 3 weeks for the product to arrive.

On the other hand, you can pay $27.95 plus postage in AUD (which equates to $32.95 with postage), get a tax invoice from an Australian company, and if you need to send the shield back under the lifetime warranty you send it back to an Australian address (ours) and we replace it from our stock with a turnaround of 2-5 days, instead of waiting up to 6 weeks for it to go back and forth from the US.

  • meh - thats not a bargain - saving maybe a dollar or two (if that).

    • .. plus you get faster shipping and local support if something isn't right.

  • Does the invisible shield work on the apple itouch, not just the iphone?

    • The ones that we are stocking at the moment are for the iPhone 3G only. They are specifically designed for the shape of the iPhone 3G, so much so that they are not even compatible with the iPhone 2G.

  • Interesting… a web hosting company selling Apple accessories. :P

    • This is part of a range of new services we are launching for iPhone users in Australia, the others actually involve hosting though ;)

    • Watch out! We are going to have Apple product accessories company offering hosting packages next…

  • Watch out! this is from the dodgy company that using questionable marketing ploy to trick users

    • Oh get off the boat elcheapo! It was a marketing campaign that was a victim of it's own success (and people posting the signup link on third party forums and blogs). You can call me (the General Manager) a bad person, or late for lunch, but don't question my ethics, honesty or integrity. I totally agree that the domain giveaway was poorly executed, but that doesn't make the offer questionable or any less valid.

  • The other benefit in buying direct from the manufacturer is the range…. I bought full covers for an iPod Classic, iPod Touch and HTC TyTnII, and they threw in a free 'sticky pad' for a car dashboard. They do tons of handheld devices and even laptops (although they don't offer free postage for laptop covers).

As for Cove's comments above re pricing and other things…. yes, the issue of turnaround time from zagg in the US vs Cove in Aus should be considered.

However, for pricing he said about the conversion from US$ to A$ taking zagg's price up to A$31.45 and then a 1-2% bank conversion fee, compared to Cove's delivered price of A$32.95. All true, but what was neglected, was to point out that the 1-2% conversion fee - even if it was a full 2% - only takes the price up to $32.08 - still 87c cheaper than Cove, so it's not exactly a bargain when it costs more. As for an invoice from an Australian company…. that's useful when you're talking about electronic devices where you have trouble with international warranties…. in this case it's not really relevant… zagg will honour the lifetime warranty - and they go further… if you need to return your device for manufacturer's repair, peel off the shield and send it to zagg and they'll send you a new one for when the device comes back. I don't know if Cove offers that or not, but the point is that there's no issue about support from zagg.

So in the end…. it costs a bit more from Cove, you're dealing with a distributor that you need to do your own homework on re their long term prospects (I honestly have no idea if they're long established and reliable or not - so I'm not making an assertion one way or the other), but yes, if they meet their promises they will be faster on delivery and turnaround.

Personally, I didn't mind a bit of a wait, ended up saving myself a bit of money and, most importantly to me, I've cut out the middle-man and feel comfortable dealing directly with the manufacturer.
