Anyone Ordered from Dell and Kept Getting Order Delayed?

Hi there,

Wondering if anyone else ordered from Dell in early August and still haven't got their order delivered?

I've ordered both an Alienate AW410K keyboard and 510M mouse back in 18th August. Didn't get any message mentioning items were out of stock when I purchased them, but was given a month ETA of 17th Sep.

Fast forward to 17th Sep, I was then told there's part shortage and given new ETA of 18th Oct. Until now order hasn't even enter production and the revised ship date is supposed to be tomorrow.

Supports has been pretty useless as well since I inquired about my order back in mid Sep. Every 2-3 days I kept getting spammed with the same copied & pasted template email with a slightly different message from the support staff who's “looking after” my case; just to tell me there's no update with my order.

Like to know if anyone else experiencing similar issue with part shortage with their Dell's order?

  • Yeah had my order pushed back again and again for about 4 months. During this time my pc kept showing up as in stock on their website. Got my refund and never using them again

    Yes, I feel ya. Their service is terrible. I ordered a Dell laptop charger as I thought I'd lost mine. This was at the beginning of August. It still has not shipped. I've tried to have the order cancelled (they make you call up to do this) and after numerous phone calls my order is still not cancelled. This is despite useless call centre staff I have spoken to promising each time that my order will be cancelled in the next two business days. I am honestly shocked at how bad their customer service is, I bought from them because I was hoping to avoid a bad experience, especially since there are many dodgy laptop battery/charger sellers out there. Had never ordered directly from Dell and now I won't be ever again. Lesson learnt.

        Sad to hear this is the case too. At this point I have to be glad that at least it's not a laptop purchase I am chasing. 🤦‍♂️

          Yeah exactly right, cheap too at $33 for the charger.
          Finally got order confirmation 3 weeks later but still waiting so we'll see 😂

    There are part and component shortages everywhere right now thanks to COVID that have been going on for over a year now and are unlikely to end soon.

    I've never dealt with Dell support (but I haven't heard good things) and I'm not trying to defend them but… the situation is kinda out of their hands.

    You're options would be to either wait it out or cancel your order.

  • I ordered 3 monitors, cables and an adaptor and they arrived within about 1 week. All via StarTrack and this was about 2 months ago. Got a pretty good price - cannot complain really.

    Ordered a couple of Laptops on Monday. Got shipped yesterday and is arriving today.

  • Dell products and support are overall great. Their accounts team don't native speak English and mostly just forward your emails to team leader which takes 1 month to respond. Then after that 1 month wait the team leader will forward that email to their manager.

  • Dealt with Dell in various capacities over the past 20 years, and they have generally been great.

    Ordering corporate levels of devices, monitors and accessories at the moment is a little difficult due to parts and component shortage as mentioned above.

    Delays could be weeks or months.

    But still gonna stick with them, as they have delivered where it matters, with warranties and such.

  • ordered two laptops in recent months - both arrived earlier than the expected timeframe.

    The most annoying thing is the dell "business partner" that keeps calling me. Argh!

    They are garbage.

    You probably wouldn't believe how bad they are if I explained what their incompetence has been but it's part of a reputation for hopelessness that they have across the globe.

    Most of Dell's products are overpriced crud in any case.

  • Ages ago I bought a monitor for my husband and it was continually delayed. I was pretty angry as it originally showed in stock and then it turned out it wasn’t, and they had no idea what was going on. The estimated date was regularly changed. We eventually got it, it was fine, but this was such a rubbish interaction that I decided I won’t ever buy direct from them again. It would be worse now, in a COVID world, and it was bad then.

  • Similar experience, except they cancelled the order without bothering to tell me. Took almost three months to get my money back, and that was after a complaint to Fair Trading. Support is friendly but useless. My case was 'escalated' so many times the CEO must have handled it personally.
