I Need to Find a Custom Maker/Business Who Can Make Me Custom Weight-Lifting Grip Hooks

I'm trying to find a business/custom maker who can make me custom weight-lifting grip hooks.

I have the Harbinger Lifting Grips, which work pretty well, except they always slide down so that they are jammed against the wrist. I want a custom set made which extends all the way to just below the elbow (that way I'll be able to tighten the velcro above the forearm muscle which will be very secure).

The custom maker would be experienced with working with nylon webbing, velcro and heavy duty stitching.

If there is a better place to ask this question on, please let me know.

If anyone has any idea I would really appreciate it!

  • hey mate, no idea if i'm on the right track, but maybe a motor/vehicle trimmer? or if they can't do it, i'd expect that they could put you in touch with someone who works with heavier materials

I think the issue is that your forearm needs strengthening so that your fingers can actually grip the bar and take the majority of the weight. If the Harbingers are slipping down then you aren't cupping them enough to hold them in place and you are relying on them too much to hold the weight as you lift. You musn't be engaging your forearm enough and they end just being like hanging ropes off your upper arm. This is bad.

If you end up making this custom set, your body will lift the weight but your forearms aren't strong enough to hold the weight, so the straps put all the weight on your forearms and i think you'll risk injury. When your forearm is strong and engages properly during a deadlight, they attach to the humorous and then the shoulder all as one solid limb. If you are too reliant on straps cuz they're slipping then you're going to pull a muscle or tendon.

If the world record holders fro deadlift don't need straps for 500000kg then you don't need forearm straps. I suggest you actually rely much less on straps.

    • Top deadlifters 100% use straps.
Have you tried straps instead of hooks? The single loop material straps lock you in to the bar and create a tight hold.

      • so yea i meant they don't reinforced forearm straps that OP wants.

  • Quote OP: " I have the Harbinger Lifting Grips, which work pretty well, except they always slide down so that they are jammed against the wrist".

That's how they work, so they wont slide off and self tighten so to speak. So is the "jamming" hurting you? If so, you need to learn to live with it or grip the bar tighter and don't rely on the straps doing all the work (not the intention), otherwise, YES it will hurt.

Or Don't use straps and learn to stop when you see blood or you'll be out for a week until they heal.

Are you doing Power or Olympic?

  • Go with straps instead, they're way better to use than hooks imo…

  • A complete different option, I just used a chalk ball that a kept in a ziplok bag in with my gym kit. Amazing how much better you can grip with a very light dusting.
