How does Woolworths 10% insurance/mobile discount get applied?

If I get an insurance/mobile that gets the 10% once-per-month discount at Woolworths, how does it get applied? A number of people in my family use the same card… if someone popped into Woolworths and just bought a $5 item would the discount automatically apply to that? Or do they get a prompt on screen to apply it? Could be stressful getting people to not use the card until we do a big shop if it doesn't prompt.

    Yes you get a prompt when you check out and have scanned your woollies card thing (additional note, the woolies card number must be input into the woollies mobile app for that account, before you can claim the offer).

    You get a prompt, but auto pilot clicking 'yes' would still be a problem to you.

  • It's not automatic - when going through the checkout with a human cashier they usually ask if I want to use it.

    It used to be it was only valid on one weekend per month, but they changed that once COVID screwed everything up.

    yes you get a prompt. the only flaw in the whole system is when your wife goes to buy a bottle of water and does it on one item and then tells you, but when you get mad your the bad person :) .

    just a tip, use the online shopping first, then instore shopping

    get to use the 10% twice per month :)

      • I'm not sure this is true. I think what happens is that you might have multiple products that offer 10% off… eg., Insurance/Phone. The discount code is the same so can only be used online once. The second offer can be redeemed in-store.

          I only have 1 account with woolworths - car insurance.
          All I know is that i can do an order online and use the code to get 10% off, and it still works as normal instore after that instore ..

        • It works for me, and I only have pet insurance. I do have two policies though (but can on only ever use the online discount once a month).

          I rarely shop in store though, so don't get to make the most of it!

  • I've had it auto apply before and not to long ago.
    I went in and bought ~$70 worth of stuff no prompt appeared it just auto applied. After several transaction cancellations they just told me to pay without scanning the card. I got 4x as many bricks packet things that I was meant to get though lol.
    I went in the following week and bought $120 worth of stuff and it wasn't automatically applied.
    It could just be limited to buggy machines/that day/direction of wind but it does appear it can sometimes happen. :S
