Might be a noob question but why would you purchase this if you had a recent laptop or PC with a built in camera? Sorry in advance.

  Most PCs dont come with built in webcams. Laptops usually do because of its AIO portability that it offers.
  
  I built my PC so none of the peripherals are included. Keyboard, Mouse and in this case a Webcam.

  If you dock your laptop to a monitor and don't want an awkward angle, a proper webcam with a fixed mount is far better. They are generally better quality too with a lot of inbuilt webcams maxing out at 720p.
  
  I have a webcam even though my laptop has an inbuilt camera, the inbuilt is ideal on the go and the webcam is great for WFH.
