Just curious, could you not add type:ozbdeal option:titleonly to your subscription so that this forum post wouldn't get notified? Or am I missing something?

If you find Lego notifications annoying, don't subscribe to iTunes, because there are no bargains, just people repeatedly trying to (unsuccessfully, I assume) buy them discounted.

You will need to tune your search alerts to minimise false positives.
I recommend using this as a search term
LEGO type:ozbdeal option:titleonlyThis will limit search alerts only to deal posts that have LEGO in the title.
You can also subscribe to product tags now. Visit the product tag page, then click the familiar subscribe button. Please note that this is a BETA feature only and you'll need to enable "Show Beta features" in your user prefs to see this option.
Notifications are sent in 30 minute intervals. Deals need to be tagged properly for this to work, obviously.

It wasn't always this way but since about 2017/2018, the Lego AFOL community massively expanded in size for some reason.
I think it coincided with Lego aggressively developing and marketing a lot more AFOL-oriented sets like the Star Wars UCS, Lego Creator Expert and Lego Ideas themes.

I've been following Lego deals on OzBargain since about 2016, so no, that doesn't account for it entirely.
Lego really started gaining popularity on OzBargain and in the wider community since around 2017/2018 imo.I think Lego have just realised how huge of an untapped market AFOLs were and started rolling out sets marketed to them like there was no tomorrow around that time.
Its probably that elf LEGOlas setting off all the notifications. That legoless elf is jealous of all the lego everyone else has.
