I noticed you can't exclude buying their modem on Optus 4g home broadband , same case with Spintel.
I know best bang of buck is Felix , but any other offerings on Optus network ?
Thanks.

Because someone in Optus marketing decided that they would not sell a 4G plan that works with modems that do NOT have Optus nobbled firmware in it (or in the case of the cheap USB doongles an Optus branded modem).
Optus support do NOT repeat NOT know how to support any of the modems they sell…..
Optus have also in the last month went backwards in the 4G modem the sell, the HUAWEI B818 modem was good and it had "back doors" that optus left in that allowed you to lock in/change the bands it could use for download and upload and was a cat 19 modem…. Optus replaced this with an inferior modem.
The only advantage of Optus 4G is that they have a 500GB plan for $65 a month.
Be aware that Optus have changed their back end to stuff up people using the latest SIM in different modems. I Was able to use an Optus SIM supplied on the 500GB plan from 18 months ago in a E5577, but a SIM supplied on the current plan does NOT work…. Optus love to stuff people up.
Make sure you read the optus CIS very very very carefully before commiting to any Optus 4G or 5G data plan.
Spintel still have the B818
I'm with tangerine and you can do sim only.
Optus don't want to deal with tech support of modems they don't supply.
