Is Banggood a Legit Website to Buy Keyboards?

Hello everyone, I am here to ask a question here yet again. So as some might know, I had asked a question a few days ago, about the best Mechanical Keyboard under 100 dollars. Many people suggested different keyboards and I have some of them under a watchlist (Tecware Phantom, Razer Blackwidow, Velocifire, Redragon etc.). I recently stumbled upon "Banggood" and it seems to have a lot of Mechanical Keyboards at a reasonable price. It seems to be similar to AliExpress (which I heard is not a good website) and has some nice keyboards which have good reviews and features. Is this a good website to purchase a Mechanical Keyboard? Has anyone here purchased from there, and if so, how were your experiences? Thanks a lot.

I am looking to get (https://www.banggood.com/GamaKay-K66-Mechanical-Keyboard-66-…) in Yellow Switch, as it seems good and I saw a review aswell on it. I just want to know if it is worth it to buy, as I am also fine with buying the other ones listed above, as they are on Amazon/Ebay, which offer good refund services (from my experiences in the past) and overall are just worth it.

Please let me know and thanks in advance.

The Mechanical keyboard community appears to mention Banggood quite a lot.

Aliexpress is a marketplace (similar to eBay) and your experience with it will vary depending on who the seller is.

    • Yeah, I noticed that Banggood was prominent, therefore I decided to look into it. Also, after looking into it, seems it is like Ebay lol, my bad, just watched some YouTube video of it and was mislead. Thanks.

  • Banggood is relatively reliable, they are similar to AliExpress. And I haven't personally had any problems with AliExpress with the numerous items I have bought from them; it's just shipping times can sometimes be a few months.

Honestly, most prebuilt keyboards on Banggood or AliExpress aren't gonna be too good; a hotswappable keyboard, like the one you chose is the best option to get, as you'll be able to swap out the switches for different ones if you don't like a linear switch (the yellows). Try to avoid 'gamer' keyboards from brands like Razer or Logitech; they're overpriced, not easily customizable (not hotswappable for example due to propieratary switches) and they sound terrible imo.

And make sure you're comfortable with the 60% form factor; I have one, and I much prefer at least a 75% with a dedicated F row. Hope this helps a bit.

Edit: Like Scrimshaw said, Banggood and AliExpress are nearly identical to eBay. Both online marketplaces.

    • Yes, I had heard about it a lot and even saw some ads, therefore decided to look into it. I don't mind the shipping though. Many people have mentioned that the prebuilt keyboards are not going to be the best, I am somewhat fine with that as long it is functional and better than my current Membrane Keyboard. I am choosing to buy a Mechanical Keyboard because my current keyboard is really slow in terms of response times, it gets stuck randomly and a Laptop Keyboard is better to type on, as opposed to this. It is really a pain if I am writing an essay or something lol. And for the form-factor, I think it'll be fine as I can assign macros to my mouse for the missing End and Home keys (useful in editing imo) and I don't really use the F keys. If I do need it though, I will just have another keyboard nearby to use. I am not sure which switch is good though, as there are 5 options and I am uncertain.

Thanks a lot for the help.

      • There honestly isn't really a 'good' switch type or 'the best switch', as it's all down to personal preference. I, for one, don't like the sound and feel of a clicky switch, whilst my brother does. Some people will be the same, and some will be the exact opposite. You choose your favourite.

I bought few things from Banggood including a TKL version of what you are interested.

Though, I think I paid bit extra to get it from their Australian Warehouse (they sometimes have some of what they offer in their Australian warehouse). Mostly because I wanted to get it as soon as I can.

    • Yeah, I do not mind the long shipping time. I am just worried in case it is faulty and it will be a pain to reship it and all. But it does say "30 day refund or replacement" which should hopefully cover any defects.

A good thing is that the Keyswitch variants all cost the same, which seems weird but I even tried adding it to the cart. I don't know which is the good switch, so I might just go with yellow as it seems the best.

      Thanks for the comment.

Yellows are fairly nice imo. I did not like the stabilsers that came with mine, but that's more of a norm I feel.
My TKL variant did function as advertised, worked fine, but ymmv imo.

Yellows are nice, smooth linears that is weighted between red and black that people tend to go for as a good, reasonably priced switch.
It depends on what feel you'd want from your switch imo.

Linears has no bumps as you press them, therefore it goes down straight.
Tactiles has a bump and you feel a change in force as you press, but it does not click.
Clickies has a mechanism that clicks and has a change in force as you press them (because it clicks).

These are very broad definition, since I didn't want to limit the definition that just fits Cherry MX style switches.

Membrane keyboards would fall under tactiles, technically. Since as the rubber dome collapes, you feel a change in force (which is what a bump basically is). This doesn't mean that tactile mechanical switches are like membrane keyboards, they don't feel mushy nor you have to press it all the way down to register a key press.

Anyways, here is someone modding the keyboard, if you are interested https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uN1Nf_VFOVg.

Thanks, all the reviews seems good so might order it now or later. Probably gonna go with the Yellow. I think I won't be needing to mod it as my requirements are probably less.

The video seems interesting, the switches also sound nice.

Once again, thank you for the suggestion.

  • Yep got my Kemove Snowfox from there, no issues.

    • Also using the Kemove Snowfox. Did/do you have the issue of the rubber feet falling off really easily? It seems like I bump my keyboard by accident and the rubber feet just fly off lol.

      • Nah havent had any issues, but a bit of glue would fix it surely

or do you mean the angle feet things? I type on a flat keyboard so dont use those :P

        • Yeah, the angled feet for underneath the keyboard that are meant for both stopping the keyboardf from moving as well as to allow a different typing angle.

  • I've only had good experiences with Banggood.

I've only bought one ore two keyboards which have served me well, but in general they've proved reliable - even with one or two DOAs.

The local Australian warehouse appears to be expanding it's range, so I always make a point filtering by the Australian stock first for extra speedy delivery.

  • I've purchased two or three keyboard from AE/BG and they have been fine.

I currently have this - E-YOOSO Z-88 at home and this - AJAZZ ROBOCOP at work.

I think my favorite is the E-YOOSO. It was delivered within the week from Amazon and the browns feel much better than the AJAZZ. But both have served me well - I can't fathom why my friends drop $200+ on Corsair etc keyboards.

    • I can't fathom why my friends drop $200+ on Corsair etc keyboards.

They're paying for the name; the brand.

      • "Razer" and "Corsair" have a better ring to their names than 'E-YOOSO".

I assume they probably have better quality switches (and support) - never really tried one.

        • +1

Can't say that Razer or Corsair use 'better quality' switches; customer support is most likely heaps better (as they are larger companies), but the quality of the keyboard and the switches aren't very good; I've tried gaming keyboards from Razer and Logitech and the cheaper ones like the E-YOOSO, and I would easily take the latter with no hesitation. It's much harder to mod and customize your Razer or Corsair board than it is to mod your E-YOOSO.

More expensive options could have better stabilisers, better switches (this could be subjective), better keycaps, better chassis with dampening foams inside so that the sound don't reverb etc etc. Though, gaming brand keyboards normally do not have any of those.

That said, I think they are trying to get better. Razer seem to be improving with each iterations of Huntsman at least. The V2 Analog interests me at least because contactless switches can achieve very smooth key feels and analogue function actually does address an issue I had with Huntsman TE (the key actuates too easily on TE because of the weighting and where it actuates).

Though if you really want to get a better overall experience with the keyboard, I think gaming brands aren't normally a good option. Companies that specialises in making keyboards, say Leopold, I think are better.
