  • How many bottles is that?

I can never remember - but this is NOT the one made in Japan, yes? As evidenced by the "Brewed under license" disclaimer? Is it the cans that are usually imported from Japan?

    • -2

Still taste the same though right?

      • +7

        No they don't

Only big cans are from Japan

        • But is there a difference in taste?

          • +2

@nightelves: Of course there is. Bring round a 6 pack of both and we can have a blind taste test

          • +1

@nightelves: Have tried blind tests before, and no, considerably different taste, with the cans being quite good and the bottles being fine but there being better beers in the pricerange.

          • @nightelves: Definitely a big difference in taste.
As a regular Asahi drinker when in Japan & cans here, I wouldn't recommend these!
Drank a few (free bottles) in August - weren't worth drinking in comparison.

        No, it's disgusting.

      Made in china.

500ml can and 2litter bottles are made in Japan

  • +1

Made from Chinese water in China. Rest you can gulp down… and yes the 500ml cans are made in Japan.

    • Wrong! Catch up…
Made from Chinese Australian water in China Australia.
Still not worth drinking compared to much better tasting 500ml cans brewed in Japan.

These have been brewed in Australia for quite some time. Asahi bought out CUB brewery.

    • +1

When was the last time you drunk a beer? They are brewed and bottled in Melbourne

  • The 500ml cans have a much nicer taste and I prefer most of my other beer in a bottle.

Showing up at $26 for me … perhaps that's the bottle deposits in NSW?

Is this even a deal? I've bought cases of Asahi for under $40, with cashreward + bws/firstchoice/boozebud. I guess it's fine, if you only have $24 to spend on beer.

    • Same for me in Vic

  • (Old man anecdote): I once had a bottle in a Brisbane Chinese restaurant that was brewed in Ireland.
Tasted better then the normal bottled version.

    • What counts as 'normal' to you? That's very vague if you don't specify the country of origin ….

  • Surely I'm not the only one, I get mad headaches from drinking a bottle. Asahi cans or water for me.

  • Saw their distillery near Brissie.

    • Yes, Asahi Beverages (CUB, formerly Powers Brewery) Yatala - on way to Gold Coast.
      With 3MW rooftop solar
