Full HD recording on mobile phone

I am currently in the market for a new video camera and as I am also after a new phone, Im considering just getting a new mobile with HD video recording.

Taklking to a Telstra rep instore, they pointed me to the HTC Velocity as being the best out of the current models they stock.

Is this a good or bad idea or should I just get a video camera? I like the idea of having the video camera on phone to film my kids when out and about.

Can anyone recommend a good HD video phone? Is the the velocity any good?

cheers
Mike

  • inline with that sibject i would like to know of a phone or other spy device that takes decent quality video and sound recording. im looking mainly for sound as i want to hide it in my bag. its for a bullying incident. i remember a device a few years ago that looked like a casette walkman but it had a tiny cd in it, it could record someone whispering about 50 metres away very clearly. does anyone know what this is? im trying not to blow the budget by having to try them all. i was going to start on the cheap things ie spy pen/spy cigarette light, spy usb or spy fake shirt button but if the cheap ones are no good i am willing to pay $$$ for 1 very good one. does anyone have any experience or know exactly where i can get info, i searched a little but got confused and conflicting info

Recording people without their permission is against the law (irrespective of what crime they commit). So whatever you record, you cannot legally use for anything.

Interestingly, it's theoretically "more legal" to record video than it is to record voice.

The so-called "808" keychain video recorders are good if you need something discrete to record car racing, kids, etc. This one is NOT the cheapest, but the guts of it are about the best available in standard definition

      • recording video isnt i think

Legal if recorder is a party to conversation and records to protect legal interests not to be bullied or to play back to bully?

        • yeah i know the law its ok thanks for being nice and adviseing me. Still its not like they are going to do anything about it. privacy.gov.au wont investigate individuals or companys that earn less than $1 million and smart legal threats keep you out of court.

that being said do any of you know any good devices?

  • hey I was thinking about this same feature in Mobile phones. Which one is the best? well, LG 3D smartphone is good but the thing about Android is the battery life is nowhere near what you get out of the older Nokia phones. So i'd like a phone that balances good battery life with Great HD Video recording. Any suggestions?

Samsung Galaxy Note. It's coming out soon and I'll suggest waiting for that.

      • Yep! i'VE been keeping my eyes and ears open for that phone! but it's gonna cost so I don't know how long it will take for it to reach below the 300 dollar mark.
