Timed Parking Restrictions - Can I Move Car from Council Car Park to Street Parking?

Was hoping for some clarification

I park in a council car park (attached to a public park) with 3P.
On the same road there is 2P on the streets

According to VIC roads rules

When moving your car to another parking spot, you must move it out of the area or length of road controlled by the parking sign.

Can I park for 3hours in the car park then move out and park on the street for 2 hours (note the car park is on the same street)?

Kind of satisfies that it is a different parking sign but not the criteria "out of the area" but then it is an "or' not an "and?

Cheers

Try it and report back next week.

    • IV done it and didn't get fined but don't want to try again.

Because one area is 3 hours and the other is 2 hours, I'd say that they're different areas so fine to move between the two.

I've moved my car around the same area/place/block many times and have never been fined BUT, of course, that's not a guarantee that you won't. (Admittedly, I sometimes even just reverse out of the spot and go back in to reset the sensors).

  • Technically you can park in the same spot as long as you move away from the area for a period of time and return. If you get a fined you just need to provide proof like moving away getting lunch and coming back. A street I use to park at for work, the workers use to play swap the carpark spot. Same street just different spots. Sometimes people would get fined so it was a gamble
