Maverick is one of the best wineries in the Barossa Valley with a five star Halliday rating. Producing quality wines that are highly rated by wine critics worldwide.
The Maverick Breechen's Chardonnay Semillon 2015 displays the lovely peach and melon fruit with lovely buttery finish and the Semillon adds a lovely complexity and lingering lemon zest and long lively buttery finish.
It is exceptional value for such a brilliant wine but the proof will be in the tasting.
Bought a couple of cases of this wine for a song at Grays earlier this year. Very nice wine but has been around on clearance.
Hmmm? Save $252? Price quoted at time of tasting (2016) according to Halliday Wine Companion was $18. Recommended drink- by 2017. Rating wasn't too flash either.
But to be fair, this is Eden Valley fruit from elevated vineyards. Some excellent chardonnays come out of Eden Valley - Mountadam, Hill-Smith etc. Still wary of this one though, might be past its best.
Barossa Chardonnay lol. If Maverick was such a great producer why are their wines forever on clearance?
