Just got a notification in my nrma app. 50% off non-prescription sunglasses online. you need to generate a voucher from the link. Can also be shared with family and friends.

Hot offer T&Cs: Online only. Single pair sunglasses only. Non-prescription only. Use with other offers restricted. Enter your details into corporate member platform to receive discount code. Enter valid code at checkout to redeem. Offer expires 13th October 21.

Looks like a good deal as we get ready for summer and also look forward to easing restrictions (fingers crossed)

Stay safe and enjoy !

Edit: credit to @shmahoo here

the code is "sun50"
it doesn't appear to genuinely check if you actually are a NRMA member
the normal prices on the website are "2 pairs for $xxx" for non-prescription sunglasses.
This code "sun50" appears to give you the option of halving that amount, for one pair.

Additionally, members also get these offers below, which I believe are standard.

Member offer

NRMA Members can choose from the following 3 offers:

25% OFF glasses and lens options on one pair of glasses with standard single vision lenses from the $149 range or above*
20% OFF Select Lenses (including Ultraclear Superclean, Driving Tint, Sun & UV lenses.)^
$30 OFF contact lenses (plus free standard tracked delivery when you spend $119 or more on contact lenses.)+

How to redeem

Glasses and lens tints: Simply show your NRMA Membership card (or app) in store to receive any of these discounts.

Contact lenses: Click the link below to add your details and enter code Car30 at checkout when purchasing your lenses

    This is terrible news.

    Thanks for the warning…

    • I am honoured
      @jv commenting on my deal
      Smiles

But sorry, I didn’t get the pun, what’s the terrible news?

      • what’s the terrible news?

        "for NRMA Members"

        • The voucher can be shared with family and friends, not so bad eh?

@jv: Oh yes - that one is just the long running nrma deal, but the one in title is online and can be shared.
              Sorry if it’s not clear

Seems to be online only, so I suppose you gotta go instore to try them on, then go home and order online…

and all the Specsavers are closed except for emergencies…

      • +1

Some Sydney ones are open, I took my kid for his eye test earlier this week (Rouse Hill) - they said they have been closed for a while, but now starting to open.

      • +3

        all the Specsavers are closed

No! Maybe you should go to Specsavers!
There are 324 Specsavers stores around Australia - the majority of which are open in their normal business hours.

        • +1

I've walked past a couple of shopping centre stores and they have been busy as normal. No signs of slowing down. Definite difference to other optometrist stores nearby, only appearing to take in emergency business.

        • +1

Yeah but…do you have NRMA if you live outside of NSW?

        • the majority of which are open in their normal business hours.

Open, but only for emergencies in VIC.

All regular appointments have been cancelled each lockdown…

          • +1

@jv: Majority of Specsavers are outside Vic!
So, "all the Specsavers are closed" is wrong!!

              @INFIDEL:

Majority of Specsavers are outside Vic!

We can't leave the state, so irrelevant…

                @jv: This isn't VicBargain!
                It's OzBargain!!
A majority of people don't live in Vic!

And most Specsavers stores in Australia are operating normally. Certainly were open today where I am.

So how is your comment that all the Specsavers are closed relevant or correct??

We can't leave the state, so irrelevant…
As already commented by shmahoo in Vic, some stores are open & busy.

Can't see them… Maybe you should go to Specsavers!

                • @INFIDEL:

some stores are open & busy.

They would not be doing it legally…

Retail is only allowed for Click & Collect in VIC.

                • @INFIDEL: The link of yours that you deleted says :

                  Victoria
All of our stores are open for essential eye and hearing care.

          • @jv: Open, but only for emergencies in VIC.
That's to see the optometrist (requiring appointment & prescription).

These are non-prescription eyewear. It is protective to eye health. Would expect advice & correct fitting before most purchases. So not usually suitable for c&c.

            Specsavers are open
But, in affected areas of NSW & Vic if your appointment is not for urgent or essential care they will reschedule it for you for when we re-open for routine care
No mention of all or any stores closed as you claim!!

Can’t find anything polarised. Is it me or the site horrible.

    • +3

      the site horrible.

      that sounds polarising…

      • I see what you did there. I was expecting a ‘both’ response from someone though.

    • Thanks - that’s good to know - will add this info to the Op. cheers!

  • Look at the sunnies… as good as $10 in Paddy’s market. 50% off $199 still a bit rip off.

  • Could anyone comment on William Painter's sunnies? Thanks.

41 different styles and all terrible. Not even worth the half price😄

  • I wonder if the offer is stackable with private health insurance rebate.

    • Title says non prescription, so I assume not
