Super Flower Leadex Platinum SE 1000W Power Supply $199 + Delivery @ PC Case Gear

170

Considering people think a $150 gold gigabyte PSU is a bargain

This company is a beast at making power supplies.

If you have the budget I would highly recommend this. Comes with (10 or 7 years) warranty so good for miners. Depends on how do you do the warranty

Overkill if you are on a single GPU build.

Please update price in the title.

    • done and forgot :) thanks

I have 3 of these. they work well so far.

Corsair still better but for the price its okay. The cables aren't the best and not all the pcie cables have pig tails.

It is better to buy on their shop on ebay as by default the ebay listing with shipping is cheaper and comes with default express shipping.

Plus u can use ebay gift cards

Depends where you live. I'm in Vic and it's cheaper to go through their website, but it's only 1 dollar.

This PSU has always been this price.

Yes, and I am bringing it to light because a lot of people are buying dog shit PSU for $50 less.

      • The v750 v2 series is very similar to the rm750x series, they're hardly "dog shit".

Yes, this is better, but the difference is imperceptible.

for a price of $199, its good. But may not fit in everyone's build.

Can you really have too much power? Components only draw as much power as required, so I've read that the higher the capacity the more efficient the PSU as it works with less stress/heat. And heat is essentially wasted energy. Let me know if I've understood this wrong.

When I moved from Gold to Plat my OverClock was a lot more stable. I did move from 650w to 1200w though. Also I did buy this for my mining rig after the old 650w decided it cant run two GPU's anymore for some reason. Must of killed a rail ha

To a point. Every PSU will have a sweet spot efficiency wise. Having too big of a PSU can also be detrimental as they’re designed to run most efficient around the 50% mark iirc? So if you have 1000w and your actual load is only 100w, it will be performing well below specs. Is it likely a huge deal? Probably not. But why spend money on something you don’t need and to have a less efficient PSU as a result. Basically, spec the PSU to the system, or a little more if you plan to upgrade etc.

@Yekul, im abt to build a pc with 5600x, rx 6600xt, 16gb ram. And I want this 1000w PSU as I may upgrade to a 3080 or 4080 in the future, so is this a wise choice? Thanks

        • +2

I reckon that's a good choice. The 1000w power supply should be able to last you for the next 2 builds at least.

It varies from PSU's, they used to always display the efficiency for that specific PSU, they don't seem to do it nowadays.

Usually it is most efficiency at around the 50% mark, with efficiency dropping off roughly the same as you move away from the middle. So getting a big PSU to underload it isn't necessarily most efficient.

      Sorta like this

Regardless, I think it's pretty negligible

On the website, it says 7 year warranty, not 10, is it worth choosing this over other brands like Corsair or thermaltake that have 10 year warranties on their higher end models?

    • I double checked with PCCG and it is definitely 7 years. Seems like different regions have different warranties.

This is better just because you haven't heard of the brand. Super Flower is an OEM manufacturer like Seasonic. It makes PSUs for everyone else.

They made the EVGA supa nova G2 1000w PSU which is a tank.

Considering people think a $150 gold gigabyte PSU is a bargain

I mean sure this is a slightly better PSU, but are you really going to care about 0.5% more efficiency and 150 watts you're never going to use for a 33% price increase?

Also, you should not recommend PSUs based on brand names. All manufactures make low & high quality units, so buying budget PSUs from one brand because they make good flagship products.is a terrible idea.

  • The price has been changed to $299 on the website :((
