    Certified Safe

By who? Not sure I’d trust plugging anything expressive into this.

    • Why?

    • +1

      This is Anker!

    • +15

      why so Ankery?

    • Lucky my expensive phone keeps to itself…

    • As an expressive person, I don't think I'd like being plugged into a USB charger either.

  • Since USB standards have expanded from being a relatively standard 5V/1-2A, is it still safe to plug in a low power device into something like this (or any PD/high-wattage brick)? I'm talking devices like Raspberry Pi, headphones, portable speakers etc.

I have an old brick for powering these kinds of things but it's on the fritz

    • Just realised this thing is probably 6x 5v/2a

Question still remains, not specific to this exact charger, eg could I safely hook an rpi or headphones up to my Samsung fast charger, for example.

      • +2

So this doesnt do fast charging ?

      • +1

        Here's what they say:

Advanced Charging Technology: PowerIQ and VoltageBoost combine to provide the fastest possible charge up to 2.4 amps per port or 12 amps overall (Does not support Qualcomm Quick Charge).

        I.e., 5 x 5v/2.4a = 5 x 12w. I'm not an electrician but that doesn't sound particularly fast.

    • +1

      Yes

    • 2.4a max per port, a raspberry pi 4 at least recommends at least 3 amps, though it might get away with 2.4 if you don’t plug much/anything into the pi’s USB ports, or if you have an older raspberry pi.

I use I think this one, or maybe an older Anker model to power my fairly ancient wireless headphones transmitter and it’s rock solid. Had issues doing the same with the Blitzwolf one that frequently gets posted and downvoted here as that one cuts the power to the USB ports temporarily when something starts drawing power on another port, which you can imagine is an issue when it’s powering headphones…

2.4a is older iPad levels of ‘fast’ charging, not android quick charge or USB-C PD ‘fast’. I would use this for when you don’t mind a slower charge or if you have older / simpler devices (mice / headphones etc).

    • +2

5V/2A means the charger will be able to provide up to 2A of current at 5V. The actual power used will be dictated by the device you are charging. So usually the problem is the other way around; when you plug a device that needs more power than the charger can provide - that's when you'll get a fried charger or device or both.

… is at a all time lowest price according to CamelCamelCamel at $29.99

    3Camel missed this deal.

  • Thanks OP. Stacked with shopback's $5 off challenge https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/650075. Let's see if it tracks.

  • +3

i own this and the one with the usb-c. i like the usb-c a lot more. it charges my phone and iPads lightning fast.

you get it, because i use the lightning cable.

ok, i will show myself out.

  • What is the fastest wall charger with 4 USB ports? can anyone recommend

    • Depends what devices you are charging. There's so many different fast charging standards and I don't think there's any out there that can handle them all.

  • +1

How would this be for PS5 controllers (instead of plugging into the PS5), Google nests, headphones etc?

    • +1

For those type of devices any multi port charger would work, none of those are particularly power hungry.

This one is probably overkill for your needs but will be very convenient with the 6 ports.

  • is this better than the Blitzwolf?

    • Ordered the BW from that deal. Arrived this week.

No issues so far and $8 cheaper.

  • Is this thing USB 3? It doesn't seem to specify and the ports aren't blue which is my usual visual cue.

    • +6

USB 3 is data transfer speed. This is a charger, not a hub….

      • +1

Oh shit! I did not realise it was a charger only - duh. Thanks for clarifying, no wonder it doesn't mention the USB interface spec.

  • +6

    QuickCharge not supported. Not buying.

I have 2 devices with Qualcomm QuickCharge and this can't be used.

PowerIQ is another standard right? USB-PD I thought its standard

Its only good if you got iPhone or Samsung

  • could anyone suggest the best brick for iPhone 12 phones (15W-20W)?

  • Can this fast charge a galaxy S21?

  • Power IQ is their own F$%king standard stupid Anker. This exclusive technology works with Apple, Samsung, Kindle, and so much more (BUT not Qualcomm QuickCharger)

    https://www.anker.com/deals/poweriq?country=US

Blitzwolf much better forget about his one if you want quick charge however doesn't have USB PD or USB-C port.

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/648131

I'm still looking for an all in one QC 3+ support, USB-PD/USB-C fast charging brick

    • +1

QC3 is a dead end. QC4 is based on PD.

      • yeah but i want one with the lot. Looks like both chargers lack one or the other

  • +1

Anyone got a deal for a charger like this but with 1 or two Type-C PD ports? (12V1.5A min)

  • Thanks OP. Bought one.

  • good deal, my 5 port anker has served well for many years - I almost pulled the trigger on this one a couple of weeks ago but went for the Heymix 6 port, it's the same size as the Anker but has 2 x QC3 ports to work with some thirstier devices that can take advantage of it.

  • The way I read that is 10W per usb right?

  • -1

You're probably much better off paying ~29.15 AUD for this before it expires in 19 mins: https://www.banggood.com/BlitzWolf-BW-S16-75W-6-Port-USB-PD-…
