A friend at the sunshine coast is looking at having to replace her aging dishwasher, She asked her local appliance repair person what she should look for. His reply was "anything that's cheap" lol
I figure if we can come up with something that's good, as well as cheap she'll be better off, so if anyone knows of some decent prices it would be greatly appreciated.
I bought a dishwasher about 8 months ago, and did a bit of reseach into it at the time. While I didn't want to spend too much I wanted a reliable one. Some of the top brands were going for well over $1000, which was out of my price range. I ended up going for a Bosch. Bosch have a range of models, their better ones are made in Germany and their cheaper ones in Turkey. The German ones have a better reputation, so I went for the cheapest of their German made models. It was cheaper, I believe, because it lacked the fancy display which lets you choose the cycle and tells you how long to go - instead its just got a couple of buttons and a dial. I'd read that the electronic displays are one of the things that often goes wrong with dishwashers so the lack of one wasn't a negative for me: though sometimes it would be nice to know how long until the end of the cycle. The model I went for was the Bosch SMS50E12AU, it's on product review here: http://www.productreview.com.au/p/bosch-sms50e12au.html. I paid $890 for it, 8 months ago, and it's still that price at appliancesonline but is currently advertised in the Goodguys March catalogue for $795: http://www.thegoodguys.com.au/essendon/ContentDisplayView?em…. 8 months down the track I'm happy with it - it washes well and is much quieter than my previous one.
