Hi, not sure if everyone remembers but HSBC had the 90 day bonus rewards points.
My card was approved on 12th March and I activated it on the 30th March. I also confirmed with the HSBC that I had 90 days from the 30th March to spend the 3k on the card before bonus offer deactivates. I did precisely that.
Now I emailed HSBC and they said "unfortunately you only spent from 3rd March till 3rd June xx enough dollars so we cannot give you bonus points." Is this a joke? Like how can I start spending if I haven't even 1) received approval 2) activated it?
Have anyone had similar experiences?
I replied to that email with above so awaiting their response.
Is this common for HSBC to avoiding paying their bonus- had no problems with Amex. Any others avenues I can take if still refusing to pay bonuses?
Cheers
eddit: double check i actually spent 3k - 3 months from the approval date not the activation date - so it should be ah
Do you have the confirmation in writing.
When my card was delayed 4 weeks due to a covid backlog i emailed them the issue and that i'd effectively lost 3 weeks (discounting the time it would have usually taken to reach me) to spend my allotment.
They emailed back that they reset the approval date to a month later.
Unfortunately as the date is from day of approval and not activation you may be out of luck.
Yes they are avoiding paying the bonus, but in the T's and C's the date is from the approval and not activation date, it's pretty sneaky but it's there. Although i would pull them up if they're saying you were approved on the 3rd when you were approved on the 12th.
