    cheaper at the supermarket…

  • Yea Our Rice is Called SUNLAND RICE and We are new in the market, Our Website
    is http://www.mgdinternational.com/

  • You Guys can Buy this Rice from IGA and other stores but obliviously will be paying Extra

    • +1

nope, Coles is half the price of yours…

    • Woolworths, page 7 of the current catalog. Sun Rice Sunlong Premium Long Grain Rice, $10 for 10Kg. That's half price. Even at their regular price of $20.19 yours isn't a bargain.

      http://weeklyspecials.woolworths.com.au/getCatalogue.php?vc=…

(also, I'm white people, so the difference between basmati and long grain is immaterial to me. rice is rice, and woolworths has a good rice price!)

  • All Depends on the quality, There are Rice in the market with $18 for a 5kg bags aswell,

    • And why should i trust that your quality is better?

    • Well, not to be a doubting Tomas, but we really only have your word with regard to the quality of the rice.

Unless you have some proof of its superiority, a story of where it was grown, how it was lovingly picked by fairies with gossamer wings, then you can't blame the scepticism of the audience.

You must try harder than what you have to convince us that what you want us to put in our mouths is worthy of our time, money and most especially of all, our trust.

  • We give a money back guarantee, Buy the Rice bag from coles and try SunLand aswell if you think they are better in quality we will pay the price for coles and our rice.

    • We give a money back guarantee

So do Coles, and they're half the price… and possibly even better quality…

    • Which specific rice bag from Coles must we buy? Coles brand, any brand? You may feel that people are attacking you. You may think you are offering a genuine bargain or a good price for a quality product. But you must see it from the OzBargainer's perspective.

Just because something is called Sunland Rice does not give it credit. After all, Koala brand rice once had a recall because it contained gravel and everyone loves koalas.

    • So essentially free rice on tap? Sounds like a deal to me

  • Daabido You are fairly funny

    • There is no information about your rice on your website…

  • Yea Than Lets hit it and give it a go and lets see who takes it

  • What pesticides are used on your rice?

    • Try our organic rice…it has no pesticides. As it should be. It is dearer due to the organic factor and as less produce is produced with chemical free cultivation methods. $30 for 10kg bag and can only be delivered within a 25km radius from Melbourne. But hey it is like comparing oranges with apples and hence our will not be considered a bargain here.

      • lol, shameless self plug.

At Woolworths at the moment the Sunrice Long Grain Rice 10kg is $10.

    No bargain.

    • +1

Coles was $1 per kg too the other week…

  • Sunland has just been launched Last week in the Market and it will be updated on our website.. i gave my website because Neil asked for it

  • Tantryl Yes I know its a different kind of Long grain its not Basmati, That makes it different and cheaper

    • Basmati was $1.40/kg at Coles

  • +1

I'm comparing it to your Long Grain, not to your Basmati Long Grain.

  • JV a private message will be sent to you regarding the Pesticides tomorrow

    • +3

why not post here ??? so everyone can read…

  • Tantryl Imported Rice and Australian Rice are totally different in size length , weight, taste and smell.
SunLand Is from Pakistan and Sunrice is a Australian company

They probably shouldn't have called them Long Grain and Basmati when selling them here then.

      • +2

Pakistani Basmati rice does actually look and smell completely different. It's usually thinner, longer and smells more aromatic. It's much, much better than the normal Sunrice you'd get at coles or woolies. (I know this because I've travelled quite a bit and have tried a lot of different varieties) It usually sells for something like $3 a kilo unless you buy in bulk, so i guess $2/kg isn't too bad

        • I wasn't disputing that they were different, simply pointing out I didn't have any way of knowing it wasn't the same as Sunrice until comment #30ish of this post.

        • +1

I am a big fan of long grain Basmati rice and have tried lots of varieties ranging from Pakistan basmati, coles brand, lots of other varieties from Indian grocery shops and now I just buy a brand called Siella which has great aroma with extremely long and thick rice. It costs around $65 for 20KG with small bags even more expensive.
Once my colleague misunderstood rice in my lunch box to pasta.

You will find that lots of brands claim long grain Basmati rice but not all are up to scratch and the quality differs from brand to brand. Till now I have not come across any cheaper variety of basmati with good long rice grain.

Yes will do it tomorrow i dont carry pesticides name with me

  • Thats What they have always been called. I was not the one who invented these names

  • +3

    $1kg = bargain, $7/$10 for 5kg = no deal

  • +1

    This is OzBargain not OzMarketing……

  • HOLY CRAP! MUST BE A BARGAIN SINCE THE REP SAYS SO!

  • +1

Sorry i have been out of conversation, alot of people here are just to criticize others, They mite be right because they dont know the differences in different kinds of Rice, I belong to a Family which has been in this business for more than 40 years now, MY father has his own Rice factory, My Brother has his own and my Uncle has the same business, Its hard to explain people the difference between COles branded rice and others,
If you guys herd about White TIGER RICE , Thats from pakistan aswell and the owner of that company is a very good frend with my dad, Same quality rice and in same packing i can provide you for 3 bucks but thats where quality stands

    • +3

alot of people here are just to criticize others

how long have you been using Ozbargain ???

This is a bargain website, not a free advertising website…

If you can't take the ctiticism, go elsewhere…

I belong to a Family which has been in this business for more than 40 years now,

I belong to a Family which has been eating rice for a lot longer than 40 years… Just because you sell it, does not meen that you know more than those that eat it…

For example, you still can't tell me what kind of pesticides you use on your rice, and you've had 40 years to learn this…

  • There are much better things in this world other than criticizing others and pulling their legs, I dont care thats why i am here but for your sack get yourself right before criticizing anyone else

    • but for your sack get yourself right before criticizing anyone else

I have no idea what you are trying to say here, but as far as I can read here, Ozbargain members are criticizing the deal, not you, so don't take it personally…

Lol@Jv I just laughed at your post R u serious na seriously do you know what you are talking about ?

    • +1

do you know what you are talking about ?

very much so… do you know what you are talking about ???

I bought long grain rice at Coles last week for $1/kg and basmati at $1.40/kg… Therefore your post is not a bargain… read the posting rules

  • +1

the best rice deal is on coles $1/kg for Sunrice jasmine rice, the best, or you can get Golden world rice from Thailand/vietnam (im not sure) for $38/25kg, that is very2 good long grain rice, as for basmati, i never try that rice, so no comment, but IMHO, it is not really a bargain, as this is bargain site, the price should be cheaper than elsewhere :) again, IMHO

  • Hey we sell Certified Organic Basmati Rice at $30 for 10kg and it flies out the door. The thing is that there is just not enough information here and as a store rep myself you have to know that the Ozbargain crowd is tough and will pick out any unclear bull and pound you for it. Learned it first hand. So best luck next time. And don’t be so reactive as a store rep it just makes you look silly and drags down you business/product. Just roll with punches and live and learn.

We will certainly pounce on "mine is better and therefore costs more even when it's on special, trust me, I sell it, I should know" claims.
