Hi All,
Looking to build a basic home gym. Am a beginner to lifting so not looking for expensive equipment.
Would the following barbell be ok for a starter?
Also any suggestions for an affordable power rack?
Are cheap ones too dodgy?
Thanks

Good luck finding stock though…
pretty sure aldi do a similar rack for 250 or 300
.
Check out gumtree and facebook market place. A lot of people have the same idea as you but lose interest pretty fast so you might get some good deals.
^^ this x every number….
It will also give you a good idea of how much you can sell it for in few weeks when you do the same… :)
olympic barbell feels so much nicer - get at least a bigger bar
I feel the choice of barbell and power rack are not in sync.
What do you plan to do with the rack?
I would skip the barbell and just go with dumbells and chin up bar.
Looking to do a beginner routine with squats, bench press and pull ups
If you have space for bench and rack go for it but i reckon its not essential.

What is your goal in terms of lifting?
Do you have a program you plan to follow? eg 5x5? https://stronglifts.com/5x5/
Planning to follow something similar to start out:

After researching a bit more, looks like a half rack would be suitable enough.
Kmart has some cheap weights
