KitchenAid KSM150 Mixer $579.99 Delivered @ Costco Online (Membership Required)

70

KitchenAid KSM150 on sale at Costco for $579.99. RRP $899.
It's an online only sale part of this week's 'Hot Buy' sale. I already have a Kenwood stand mixer but at this price I'm really tempted to buy this.

  • Seems expensive. How much is it normally?

    RRP is definitely not $899

You can get the larger model ksm160 regularly for $720, and on sale for around $600 (which I've purchased)

    • It was $899 back in 2006 when first released.

  • The cheapest I've seen was $450.

  • Is there a more affordable alternative of this mixers for occasional use?

My wife and I have run into the ground a Kenwood Patissier stand mixer for 8 years, only to upgrade to a second-hand KSM150/160 series mixer recently. I'd definitely pick up one of the Kenwoods for < $100 second-hand. Just check that the speed selection works as it should, as our one became a little bit inconsistent after about 6 years.

Kenwood is awesome. Have a kenwood K-Mix going strong for 6 years now, heaps of power & attachments. Family member just went from a kitchenaid to a new Kenwood Chef ($350) and it’s been super impressive, they love it!

    • There's an option for every price point, all the way down to $1 for a wooden spoon

Just FYI, this is $649 at the kitchenaid website, but if you have the Amex offer where you get 15% credit back when you use your amex to buy from kitchenaid, then it comes down to $551.65 plus some cashrewards/shopback. Just bought one this week, and got my credit back on Amex. Partner has already made an apple tea cake, which was delish.

  • I waited a long time for a good deal on the Kitchen Aid mixer but opted to go with a Kenwood Chef XL instead. Mainly because of the price difference!

They both do the same job and have similar ratings and reviews but Kitchen Aid is way expensive.

Kenwood chef XL was on promotion at THE GOOD GUYS @ 429 and further 10% discount (after dark sale) brought the price down to 386, paid via gift cards (5%) => 366.8$. Adding the click and collect offer i am waiting my 50$ voucher from TGG!

That being said (calculated) the price difference for me was too high to get a Kitchen Aid!

  • Get away from Kitchen aid, and stick with Kenwood…
Im on my third Kenwood (two hand me downs that were then handed down) and now a Chef XL I bought a few years ago.

Kitchen aids are smaller, and I dont think the motors are as good or the attachments… but that doesn't really matter. The real issue, is the planetary head where the mixer attaches to.. they are a nightmare to clean, and get full of gunk and crap that goes mouldy if not meticulously looked after after each use.

Yeah they look pretty.. but that's also subjective
