Plumbing Help - Quoss Shower Mixer Leaking

Looking for some advice. I just installed this Quoss shower mixer transformer.
Installation seemed to go fine, using this installation video

Shower was used 3 times without issues, but then suddenly, 36 hours after installation and while not in use, it started leaking from the mixer. See video here
I have taken everything out and reinstalled but still leaks. I have also tried changing to the deeper extension as outlined in the video, even though I don't think it was necessary as my pipes were not too far from the wall.

Any advice greatly appreciated

    Call a licensed plumber

    • Yeah I guess that'll be the way to go if nothing else works. It'll just hurt more since the product is advertised as no plumber needed.

    Return to Bunnings for replacement.

    • Look like faulty mixer

    Get a replacement from Bunnings.

Is the leaking water hot, cold, or warm? If it is warm, then get a replacement. If it is either hot or cold, check that you have installed the washers properly.

Is the water pressure high in your property?

    • Thanks for your reply.

Hmm the leaking water was felt fairly warm, not sure if that counts as "hot". I will double-check the washers again.

Not sure about property in general, in but the old shower head used to feel very high pressure (part of the reason I changed was to be water saving). Do you think the pressure could be too high and has damaged the mixer?

Looks like the mixer has failed, nothing to do with your installation. Take it back to Bunnings

Yep. Get them to just swap over the mixer only.

Thanks everyone for your responses - I'm very grateful.
Will take the mixer back to Bunnings for replacement.

  • At first a replacement makes sense. If you have tank water there might be issues with sand or grit in the water. I have installed several and had never issues until out of warranty. Ceramic inserts can be found on ebay much cheaper but if under warranty make use of that first. Since I have a sediment filter in our mains all the flickmixers last much longer.

  • While referring to the video I can see a small leak through the pipe. This leak might be because of the improper alignment of the washers inside the pipe. A high-pressure water flow might affect the washer to dislocate inside the pipe and result in the water leak through the pipe. It's better to replace the shower or to enquire with the plumber about the plumbing system whether any block is present inside the pipeline.
