Fantastic watch. Grabbed one on a previous deal and it's night and day compared to previous android wear watches. So much snappier to load things and navigate the UI, and the battery life is fantastic. Gone from having to charge every day to once every 3-4 days

    • Good to hear that battery life is improving. Is that with a normal daily use or did you disable any specific functionality/apps?

      • +1

Normal use, I don't disable anything on it

    • Good to hear, I think the next SD Soc chip (5100?) will be the time I revisit non Apple smart watch option….as good as Apple Watch is, I would love to try different design and OS from time to time….

      • +3

Rumours are that there is no real improvement in the 5100, and it's still at least a year away from being in any watches.

This is basically the best Wear OS watch, and will be for quite a while.

        • Fair point…considering how slowly the SD X100 chip evolved in the past, yeah, probably gonna take another long while. I guess any smart watch with SD4100 is as good as it gets for now…

      • How good is Apple recharging slavery with so many devices not lasting full day?

I have old Vodafone "No Plans" with no monthly commitment that I used on cheap but all bells & whistles 2G micro sim, 16gb micro SD, camera, music, remote picture, mini USB, radio… Sent overseas after Vodafone removed 2G (1y after Telstra). It lasted longer than Apple watch :)

    • I’m curious what previous wearOS watches you’ve had that you’re comparing it to. As I’m considering upgrading from a Huawei Watch. Any insight you can share would be of interest.

      • +1

I had the original Huawei Watch, a bunch of watches before that, and a bunch of watches after that. This TicWatch Pro 3 GPS is hands-down the best of them all. The Huawei Watch was great for its time (laggy, notifications weren't great) but I didn't find AW great at the time so I jumped to Tizen on the Samsungs. The TicWatch was my first AW watch in about 3-4 years. Lag was the biggest annoyance in the past AW watches I've had. It's gone now, and AW is actually nice to use.

        • Oh okay. So you never used the Huawei W1 after it got the upgrade to WearOS? As I found that made a decent difference.
I’m still using the W1 myself.
I had been looking at the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic, but they’ve announced it won’t work with iOS at all. Otherwise it looked perfect.
          Hence I’m looking at alternatives.
Thanks for sharing your experience mate!

Is that the update in 2018? I sold it in 2016 so I didn't experience that update. I really liked the W1's design, I was just curious about other watches as well so I sold it to try something else.

  • hi, what is the RRP for it pls? Cheers

    • +1

      $399

      • -5

No one would pay 399 for this.

        • +4

No not? It was the best Android wear watch before Galaxy watch 4 came out.

          • +5

@WilliamDGH: I considered the Galaxy Watch 4 ( I have the S3 Frontier) but battery life has gone down in comparison. Plus you need a Samsung phone to utilise all features. Plus it is more expensive…

  • Was about to get the Galaxy Watch 4 classic. Would this be any better?

    • +3

no youtube music, but you get Google assist and better battery life.

      • +3

YouTube music and Google assistant are coming tho

        • yeah, after 6 months

Looks like a Tag rip off

great price, but once you have a watch with LTE, there is no going back. patiently waiting for LTE variant

    • +6

I dont see the appeal of LTE, i dont go for jogs and never away from my phone for long periods. Id go for it if it wasnt an extra $5 a month on my phone plan

You can use prepaid & redirect to that number to receive urgent calls or send SMS back until you reach your phone.

    • +3

For a person who almost always have his phone with him, I never see the true value of an LTE enabled smart watch (or any LTE enable device except 4G hotspot devices). I guess the only time (common situation applied) I can think of benefiting from it is either swimming or jogging (and you don’t want your phone with you while jogging)…..

      • +5

Me being a phone adict I try to avoid carrying phone most of the times just to spend more time with my kid. While watch can do most of what my phone can do (except scan qr codes). Shame there is no app to enter the code yet for wear os

  • +1

Does this watch measure blood pressure too?

  • +1

can you toggle wifi/bluetooth on/off for this? I work in areas where this is needed

    • +2

      Yes, it has flight mode.

can you store music on it? dont want to carry mobile for walk

    • +1

Yes. I do store songs on internal memory, also podcasts using app

      • Awesome, and i believe it has speakers as well to answer calls directly on it? right?

        • Yes

  • +4

Shame that these don't use qi charging

  • Isn't this chipset slower then the one in the galaxy watch 4. Especially when new wearos is released for it

    • But samsung ui on top is enough to create enough lag to compensate

      • +2

Are you just guessing, or have reviewers actually complained about lag?

        • All in saying is the ticwatch 3 will be as fast as samsung watch, as ticwatch uses SD with vanilla android vs samsung exynos with samsung ui

    • Here's a video showing it in action. You can see its a little tiny bit slower launching apps but this watch is older and it's not on the new wear os yet (Q1 2022 supposedly, code there might make it smoother/faster?).

That all said, coming from a Moto 360 2nd gen and last gen fossil watch, this is heaps faster than anything prior to the SD3100.

      • Talking about when it's running new wearos. As with every os hardware has to handle it unless you like to keep running older software

  • My boi

  • +2

Plus a -$5.35 AUD when signing up for the first time which makes the total price to $262.39 AUD. Not bad for a Top-Of-The-Line smartwatch I reckon.

  • $262.39 delivered. Not bad at all

    • Just got it, and I am not sure what I expected but I really don't like it. Small, clunky and no rotating ring on the front; I'd much rather the Samsung watch and software,

      • +1

If size is important, do note it's larger than the largest Samsung Watch 4 Classic.

Ordered on the 5th September - received on the 7th. I'm impressed with the speed of delivery (and the watch)!
