As per title, EBGames Level 5 Season 2020/2021 Season is over and I am hoping to be qualified (which according to last time I checked on 31/08, I was)
My question is whether anyone has been contacted by EBgames already about this or I should assume no qualification if I haven't been contacted by now?

i have 19,450 carrots. if there much point to level 5?
its based on a yearly spend (01/09-31/08) if you log into your EB world account you can now see a ladder and where you are in the list.
you need to be in the top 9999 of the year to be invited for level 5
I had a spend made on 31/08, for some reason it ended being credited into 2021/2022 season.
If I don't get Level 5 in this season, I don't think I ever will. I was still in top 9999 although very close though (like 9850) but surely 1 day wouldn't make that much different after maintaining that position for more than a week.
I got my Level 5 email around on Sept 2nd around 10am
Email included the invite to the Facebook group and told me to collect my card from my chosen store from 10/09 onwards

Mind if I ask what your rank was? I was 1,342 as of the last email update prior to the leaderboard refresh. The email I got on 02/09/21 simply said they'd reach out to the top 9,999 people soon, but not a confirmation that I'd reached level V. EB account still reflects level IV.
21,195 carrots, mostly Pokemon TCG and Pop preorders, couple of CE editions for PC games.
Glimmer of hope. It's only one so far.
Surely there is a lot of EbGamers here in this Ozb community so if it's only Jimbobaus, I am hoping EbGames are just being slack.

I should correct myself. 5250 carrots not dollars since you could do a swap and get 2 carrots per $1 swapped
My 2020/21 spend was a little under $8K and got in.
Im just wondering why would anyone spend that much at eb games when games are almost always cheaper else ware?
The benefits are not worth the extra $20 your paying on each new release game at EB games.
They price match, but I'm sure the amount spent to get top 5000 is astronomical. Also why I'm not sure of the benefit of this level 5 thing.
This year it would be the scalpers I guess. A few ps5s and xbx would get you over that threshold…
Price matching is pretty much something I always do to ensure I get the carrots :)
I like the extended returns that comes with eb levels.
But they do not price match when the new games have an exclusive bonus?
Convenience. While I buy most of my games from overseas, there's something to be said for instant gratification and damage-free collectors' editions. And, during lockdown, I've had 3 EB stores in my 5km bubble and 5 stores in my 10km bubble.
Price matching. If I do buy games local, I always get EB to price-match JB HiFi (or similar).
It's hardware as well. A few games consoles quickly increase the carrot count.
Relationships matter. Getting to know my local stores' staff has helped me acquire "out of stock" items, games with misprinted covers etc. This is great as a collector.
I remember around June or July, they show the leaderboard of carrots. But one day I cannot see the leader board any more. Does it mean I am out of top 9999? When I saw it, I was like in position around 1000-1500. Suddenly I am out of top 9999?
Your account might’ve been flagged for too many transactions over 14 days as they do this to stop scalpers. You should email them and clear it up…
On a side note… have you seen the top 5 already.

I was top 3k at the end of the recent year (still not contacted - got there from a ps and Xbox + too many preowned game purchases & Zing spend = lego🤦🏼♂️)
I was top 3 for the first few days of this year too cause I traded all my old consoles and games :)
So not much actual spend to get top 5 so far -
Can’t speak for the others though - they could be throwing money at eb 🤷🏼♂️
Mine won’t have much movement now until more releases come out

So just a quick one. Is Level 5 a permanent thing or a yearly thing?
With the 2020/2021 season, no such disclaimer was shown, but the new 2021/2022 season says its only for a year (so you need be be spending a lot every year to maintain level 5).
Which is correct?
Lv 5 lasts for one year up to September 1 2022 for 2021/2022 season.
The Twitter response I got from EB Games said that eligible people will receive a confirmation email on 16 September once they're done figuring out who's eligible. Not sure how/why people are saying they already have confirmation emails.
I think only one person said that and that is Jimbobaus. Prior to this, nobody really know when are they expecting to hear from EBGames.

On midnight 31 August 2021, the first race concluded. The final list of members will be analysed and successful entrants to Level V (5) will be contacted Thursday 16 September. The Level V membership will be active from 1 October 2021 – 30 September 2022.
Just got notified.. sucks can't use it from October 1 when there are a few games right now I'd do some trades in. I guess I'll just wait.

Picking up your EB card would not be deemed essential at all.
Maybe it isn't but they are actually doing it. I am not arguing about the purist element of this.
How do I know this? I have been collecting my games and Zing stuff from there all the time. They are no more or less essential than picking up a card.

What? You didn't get the email? That would be weird because I was at tail end of 9000s and I got it.
Turns out my email wasn't sent because I had promotional emails and vouchers turned off in my profile. Woops. I love promo emails and vouchers so I don't know why I did that.
That is weird. It should have been sent regardless whether your promo or email turned off. It is a SERIOUS notification, not spam.
It's a bit like they don't send you email if their system is hacked because you turned off emails/notification/vouchers.

@burningrage: I sent a private message to the EB Games Twitter account and they confirmed my eligibility and passed on all the info including my store to pick up my card from, and told me about my email preferences. I haven't actually gotten the email.
That also explains why I never get birthday emails and stuff as well, which I had noticed, but didn't care enough about to actually investigate properly :)
How long did it take to get your email once you changed notification settings? I was in the top numbers too and had my notifications off too…
@ozb dan: See my comment above. Send a message to the EB Games twitter account - they need your full name and email address. In my case, they came back really quickly.
Just gave a call to them. 1h10m waiting. I will not get the level 5. Reason is I was flagged as reseller.
how do they know your a re-seller?
According to staff he said I did a large amount of trade in with different items. I did in fact. I did it when they gave 50% extra when you trade in. I never re sold from them, only to them. Weird.
I received the email but that was to say the Lvl 5 carrot points have been reset so everyone is able to race to the top from scratch.
