Ported out to Optus and tried to port back in but JB not doing it at the moment.
What is the best option currently? Need to be with Telstra.

Unfortunately reception for Optus is horrible around where I live and the best that their support can do is to take the SIM card out and back in.
Switch to Boost then.
Coles > Telstra Pre-Paid SIM or Boost SIM

Will just be a pain to port out then back in again. But think this is probably the best way for now.
What is the reason for JB not doing them at the moment? I am just about finished with my 12 months so was going to start another one shortly.
Might be able to try The Good Guys instead for pretty much the same deals?
They just said they are not doing port ins at the moment when I called their mobile sales team.

Bummer hopefully they're back soon. It won't help you now but for future reference you shouldn't need to port out anyway to get one of the promo deals. You can just start a new contract (counts as new customer), call Telstra to swap the numbers attached to the accounts, then cancel the old contract.
