Wilson Blade 98 v6 (Non CounterVeil) Prestrung w/Wilson Sensation Racquet $149.95 + Delivery ($0 with $150 Order) @ TennisOnly

70

Free shipping at $150+ (sneaky of them, I know).

Buy 2 for $250 ($125 each).

Personally have not played with this model, but it is suitable for high intermediate to advanced players.

Version 8 just came out at the US Open. Version 6 in its initial release had Counterveil and wasn't liked by most tennis players (although a few swear by it). This is the 2021 re-release of the Blade Version 6 without Counterveil which is much better reviewed

Counterveil version also same price but lacks the Wilson Sensation prestringing.

  • Yeah, since V8 is out, might as well wait for deals on the V7 :)

  • V6 is there best blade made, it would make sense to re-release it. i got it when it 1st came out, its a great racquet. v7 didn't have that pop of the v6

i now wield the mack truck prostaff rf 97 v13

    • Do you mean V6 with or without CV?

Most of my friends say V5 was the best.

I wouldn't know, I played ProStaff until I got my Yonexes.

      • Best to worst
        V5 (2015)
        Kblade
        V7
        nCode
        BLX
        V4
        V6

  • +1

anyone buying this should ask if they can match swing weights to reasonably close to one another, and ideally you know what swing weight you like

Blades are pretty notorious at bad QC. I bought my v7s from different places and the swing weights don't marry up and feel very different. Will need to use lead tape to adjust but sometimes that can't get them to the same

The annoying thing is the blade you get can be different from the one you demo.

Thinking of switching to Yonex for better QC and getting what I actually want.

    • Funny you should say that. Bought a Head based on the demo racquet and swear the one i got felt different…thought it was in my head but maybe not?

    • Wilson are known to be the worst when it comes to QC. Tennis Only doesn't have much stock of this frame so you would be lucky to get the same specs, unfortunately.

    • I have three Yonex Vcore Pro 97 HDs.

      1st one: 320g unstrung, 326 SW
      2nd one: 320g unstrung, 324 SW
3rd one: 320g unstrung, ??? SW (haven't brought it to the shop yet)

  • How does the CV version play ? I can't seem to find many reviews on it.
