    Wavy edge?

    You mean like… serrated?

    • Hahaha

    • OP must be a surfer/chef.

    • +9

Victorinox call their knives wavy instead of serrated, so OP is correct in saying wavy edge.

      • +2

Yes, aware of that much. I was not mocking the OP, but Victorinox.

        Marketing department…

Rumor has it that if you collect all the colors, something good will happen.

    • +3

You can combine them together to form a slightly larger knife, or hold them up while shouting each colour to summon Captain Knifey to cut your steak for you

And at 45 for 7 its a few bucks cheaper than OP per knife!

      • $44.64 for 6 -> $7.44 ea?

        • +10

Mate, one of us can't count and it ain't you.

    • This sounds like one of those rumours back in the 90s/00s days of the Internet where we didn't quite have centralised places to share information and rumours like these were widespread.

    • A complete coloured set transformers into HE-MANS sword. Then you stand in your kitchen and yell, "By the power of Grayskull…, I have the POWER".

      • +2

Dammit I was hoping for Voltron

        • He-Man would open a can of whoopass on Voltron.

      Snap?

  • +4

Whenever I order these I get put on back order and subsequently cancelled a month or so after.

  • +7

Have had 2 sets of these for the past 7 years (Kitchen + camping), not the nicest looking, but absolutely top quality. Would buy more, but there's nothing wrong with the old ones.

    • Being old is the wrong here. Just get more new ones.

      • +1

        Ageist!

  • Victorinox

    No red colour on sale.

    :(

  • +6

Just the blue one left to complete the collection!
    Great multipurpose knives.
Note also the handle of the black and white versions are different to the other coloured ones

Sliced my finger using this last week, lost enough blood to pass out and needed a few stitches. Very sharp but without the weight behind the handle like a traditional knife it can be dangerous.

Its like using a disposal plastic knife with the blade off a cut throat razor.

    • My wife loves this knife, myself not so much for the same reason you have listed. But each to their own.

    • I got one of the sharp pointy end ones and one of these. For some stupid reason I used this one to jab open a plastic food packet (forget what now). The end is of course not good for that and I cut my finger instead. It didn't hurt, except for the second it happened, so I went to emergency just to get it looked at and they checked I could feel the tip and it was all good.

I now have a weird lump and it feels weird, so I don't like using that finger for pressing buttons and things. I Googled it and it doesn't seem like it's anything to be concerned about, but it is annoying.

I still love the knife for things like slicing bread rolls and I even cut packets with it still, holding from the top and slicing across. I'm a little more careful with it now.

They actually told me they had a lot of knife injuries from the knives Coles were giving away (getting points for your shop to use on knives).

Every time I look at a deal on this, I read the "ultrasharp" comments and everyone seemingly having first-hand experience….and hesitate to buy :(

      • +1

        They have no knife skills

        • Agreed.

    • 😴

    • have to call you out on this one,, I’m going to take a stab that it was the sight of blood that made you drop, unless of course you spilled a good 500ml plus.

    • everyone in our house has cut their fingers on these knives.

fukn razor sharp as you describe.

the age old saying a blunt knife does more damage than a sharp one is totally false for these bad boys

we have a set of global kitchen knives, never come even near to cutting myself with those.

  • Great knife but not the best price.

    Under $5 is a good price. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/639195

If you're buying in bulk (6) and use afterpay, try ebay plus, $6.08 something each: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/New-VICTORINOX-Steak-Knives-Pist…

    • people are complaining about buying 2, they are going to lose there S#$% if they buy 6. lmao

  • +3

I don't get why this price keeps getting posted when ebay has it for about the same 365 days a year

    • I just checked and the cheapest on ebay is $9,89 - although there is a set of 6 on sale for $40.50 - which would be great if you want 6, otherwise not so much.

      • +2

yeah it's the 6 deal that's 365 days year, i guess cheaper with codes. who doesn't want six though

        • +2

          people who want 7

          • @[Deactivated]: If you want 7 it's same price as amazon but year round. If you want 6 it's cheaper than amazon, year round.

  • Min order of 2 though :/

    • +4

well duh, you have 2 hands, right?

      • +1

"well duh, you have 2 hands, right?"

ummmm generally it's one right and one left :P

  • I use them most of the time, they don't last forever, more like around2 years then sharpness is goes away. But for the price its a good knife.

    • -1

true, it's a disposable knife. still better then pulling out a kmart knife.

    • can't be sharpened?

      • you can't, but its not worth it for a serrated knife at this price. its cheaper to just buy another one.

  • Only white, Black no more.

    • why does that make you so happy?

      • seems people love black better i know i don't like white

    • +3

      Black Knives Matter

  • the infamous kitchen saw

  • Aaaaand black is gone.
This is the new eneloop of ozbargain.

    • +1

im not a knife expert, but i think the white one will cut as good as the black one.

again, i am not a chef, ymmv

      • I believe you but the black one looks more convincing tho…

  • Any good as a small bread knife?

    • +1

yes, is a saw like a bread knife.

  • +1

These also work really well as a small bread knife for things like rolls and pastries

  • +1

I had some coupon from Spotlight and having nothing to buy spent it on their $2 Colormix serrated knives. Can't talk about longevity and whether you can pass them to your grandchildren but out of the box there's absolutely no difference to me between Spotlight and Victorinox knives.

  • Is this too big to be concealed in a pants pocket?

    • It'll cut through your pants, muscle and probably bone before your notice it.

      • And your 2 meatballs & sausage.

  • +1

I just love these knives. The more things i try and use the them, the more i realise they are the best alll round knife ever.

    • Agree. I have many expensive, high quality German and Japanese knives but I find myself mainly using these for small jobs.

If Victorinox made a bigger version of this, they'd be onto a winner.

  • Black handle not showing as $7?

  • Do these need sharpening once in a while? If so can you do it with a sharpening stone?

    • They cannot be sharpened.

Threat them as something that you'll probably dispose of in a few years.

  • Coming up for 10.36 (the black)

  • These knives aren't identical in size. The red one listed as 10.92 x 5.08 x 1.27 cm; 32 Grams. The white one listed as 21.5 x 2.1 x 1 cm; 30 Grams. Kinda strange don't you think?

  • I wonder if the "sliced finger" guy will ever get tired to write it at every Victorinox post.

  • Deadliest catch fisherman call these Vicki's. They use them because they don't have a sharp tip so they don't stab themselves.

  • Bought one of these from an ozbargain deal a couple of months back, very handy for cutting strawberries /tomatoes without crushing them. Decent quality given the price.

  • Good for cutting vanilla slice

Can't afford to buy two for wife

  • -2

anything more than $0 is too expensive. got 4 free ones at the after pay scam / deal

  • I bought a set of these during the last deal, maybe 6 months ago. They certainly are very sharp straight out of the box. Like others, I cut my finger at least once with one of these. 6 months down the track I would describe them as adequate but no longer super sharp. I saved a couple to test them and opened one of them last week and it was obviously sharper than the ones I've been using for months. Still great knives overall.
