As suggested here, this thread will be a megathread to ask whether a particular site is legitimate.
Any individual posts will be merged into here, in the future.
Hi. I’m half tempted to pull the trigger on this but it’s about 5% of the expected price, so warning bells are going off. Wonder if anyone can give any insights? Link is below:
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/385663521122
I wouldn’t touch it.
How about with a ten foot pole?
.
I wouldn't touch it with Opera Winfrey's 10 foot dildo.
It will be fake. You could buy and test it to see what's really inside. It could be a USB Killler, but that's highly unlikely. It's probably an 2-8GB drive.
General rule is not to buy from a seller on eBay with less than 99% (maybe late 98.x%) positive feedback and this seller has ~95%. If you filter negative responses:
Posted 2GB hard drive instead of 2TB hard drive. Clearly fraud and then refused to give the refund I am entitled to
First USB sent didn't work contacted seller, they claimed it must have been damaged in transit so sent another one and had same problem tried formatting and everything on both they then issued refund but was a long and arduous task getting that far.
The seller advertised a 4 Terabyte USB3 hard disk. He delivered a fake that had only 134 GB but was tricked up to look like a 4TB on Win Explorer in properties. He gave a partial refund to try and keep me quiet, but he refused to make good. He is still advertising them.
This one is an easy pass.
Also if none of the mainstream manufacturers make something of this capacity then an unbranded version is even more unlikely to make sense.
fake, move on.
Are there really people so utterly lacking in common sense to think things like this deal are legit?
Sometimes people make bad decisions because they don't know enough about the relevant subject to know how much they don't know. But why does someone who knows that a legit product would cost 20 times as much waste their own time and annoy us asking whether we think its legit.
FOR DOG'S SAKE, OF COURSE ITS NOT.
Its not common sense that is lacking. It is critical thinking, they have stopped teaching this in schools.
Nah go on
Seems legit
Bytes cost cents, cheers.
Beware of the $42.00 ones, they tend to catch fire.
2TB Flash Drive on eBay New for $24.48. Legit?
It is legit 2gb
it is legit Flash
i mean your money will gone in a flash
eBay's money guarantee is pretty good, if it aint 2TB, money will be safe….
The seller has at least a few feedback related to fake storage capacities.
IMO, a case of PEBKAC with users expecting to be able to read their files again. You should go for it.
If you have to ask…
Legit?
If you have to ask…… then the answer is most likely no.
JFC…….
Nah its legit
The problem with cheap USB devices is they sometimes just don't work. I won a 64G drive back when they were $100, and it was so frustrating trying to get it to work. An unreliable flash drive is worth less than nothing.
You'd be better off to recieve a 2G drive than a $24.48 2T drive.
Just in case someone actually considered buying that instead of reporting to ebay:

It’s overpriced. Buy the same on AliExpress for one tenth that price, and then get the joy of savaging the seller with an unkindly review replete with funny memes
Following site came up via a Google Shopping suggestion for a product i was looking for.
https://nexoriau.myshopify.com
No other search results besides the above website for "nexoriau". Pretty low prices. Domain doesn't exist.
Seems fake so be careful.
Come on, it’s blatantly obvious?
Are you asking if it's blatantly obvious?

Interested to see opinions on ozdesks.com.au
Their desks and accessories just seem too good to be true in terms of pricing. I don't like that they don't offer PayPal as a payment option. They go offer Apple Pay and Google Pay, though, I am unsure on how refunds would work on those options as I have never tried (I assume it's just going through your bank).
Cheers.
Depends if you want to purchase from this guy

Wanted to check this shop is a scam or not:
alesismusic.myshopify.com
They seem to have a legit address below:
[email protected]
Mon – Fri: 8:30 AM – 11:30 PM
Sat – Sun: 9:30 AM – 10:30 PM
Mailing Address: 34 Cleveland St, Stones Corner QLD 4120
Phone Number : +61 7 3397 8962
But those trading hours (open till 11:30 PM)… and also the phone number is disconnected
The alesismusic.shop domain is not registered and the mailing address is shared by a few shops.
So avoid "Alesis music australia" it is almost certainly a scam
I think it could be legit, and looks like a paid version of iwantthatflight or beatthatflight.
They have had a cheap flight website going since 2021 with premium options opening in 2023/2024?
However not showing any contact details or company information is always a red flag if something goes wrong and you need assistance…
And their tax returns are overdue: https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/c…
Whether you get your moneys worth is another issue, as they are only using publicly available information anyway as per their FAQs:
"How do you find such cheap flights? My team and I spend hours searching for cheap flights on websites such as google flights, momondo and kayak travel agents everyday. We continuously monitor flights to destinations all over the world, watching for massive price drops or mistake fares. Whenever we find an amazing deal we send them out to our loyal subscribers."
So it doesn't appear to be anything you cannot find yourself - it is just put together for you in a weekly email.
Keep seeing this site https://freecash.com/ advertised as you gain coins for completing tasks including testing apps, software etc and wondering if anyone has any experience with it
TIA
Moderators: tried to add to the is it legit thread but can't work out how, any assistance appreciated pls
I don't know, but that's a pretty cool domain name, has to be worth a lot of money on its own. Whoever owns it could sell it for a fortune, vs a site called easyfreecashforyou.com which would be worthless.
has to be worth a lot of money on its own.
What about freemoolah.com ?
It sounds like the most obvious scam site
What do you reckon guys?
too good to be true?
Selling macbooks at crazy unbelievable prices.
Surely can't be true.
https://www.amazon.com.au/s?me=A1IJ0Y4AU1SUY6&marketplaceID=…
Ships from Rava clock house
Sold by Rava clock house
just launched
No feedback yet
What do you think?
dunno…
on one hand, it seems super dodgy and clearly a scam.
but on the other hand…
nope,no other hand
Believe in another hand. Believe harder. Have faith. Lots of people doing it.
I think op should roll the dice anyway.
Been a while since an I got scammed thread.
too good to be true?
Selling macbooks at crazy unbelievable prices.
Surely can't be true.
If typing those 3 sentences out yourself didn't change your mind, nothing will.
Preemptive too good to be true on marketplace is also a scam.
I was pretty convinced it's all a scam. Just needed others to shake me up and say it's a scam.
Wonder how Amazon allows it?
Never bought a non-amazon product so wasn't sure.
Wonder how Amazon allows it?
Common problem with most marketplace sites. You'll find scams on pretty much all of them.
Can be a bit hard to monitor with the volume of sellers on Amazon.
Amazon most likely wont look at it until an issue/complaint is raised.
Rava clock house is committed to providing each customer with the highest standard of customer service
But no product 🤔
Surely each customer can't have the highest? Or where will they stop?
Ample time for infinite customer service without supply chain and logistics constraints.
Specs have it running Windows 10.
Makbuk pro
Makbuk bruh.
Just reading the reviews as well supports the fact that the site is a scam, the reviews (in Italian - first clue) talk about the hardware, not about the seller at all.
Doesn't help that Amazon collates all legitimate reviews together and pastes them on scam sellers' listings.

Believe associated with Giztop but not much information available. Has anyone experienced a purchase of a Xiaomi 14 mobile phone or something similar.
Geekwills are legitimate. I used to work for Gizmochina a very long time ago and Giztop was the partner shop with partial ownership. Checking with my old colleagues they now outright own Geekwills but the backend still has a lot of association with Giztop.
Like Giztop it's very much a curated selection and good for getting the Chinese limited editions without being scammed.
How long have they been in business? Not much discussion on Reddit and other sites. Reviews on one site (5) are very "gushy" and are very similar praising the company for good transactions. I'm slightly sceptical parting with $800 but realise there are risks with all purchases online. PayPal may be insurance backup.
Giztop reviews are mixed and negative where claims are involved with comments of poor communication..
I'm wavering on buying from Geekwills as not enough feedback on the internet.
So in summary - it appears the site is indeed legitimate, however as to their CS and after sales support it appears they might be a bit dodge.
Now it comes down to whether you want to risk saving a few bucks versus any future issues :)
Anyone know of anyone that has won big or anything from the lottery office that does overseas lotteries?
Hi there,
I have a family friend contacted by a sales person about Kadmax streaming service.
Provides Indian channels, live tv, streaming on demand. It sounds suspicious to me but maybe legit? Keen to see if anyone in the Indian community uses such a service?
contacted by a sales person
Generally, a good first step to knowing something is overpriced, scam, or lacking legitness
Thank you….Any legit recommendations?
For you or your friend
Just go and buy real tv or something from indian grocery store.
or just sign up to sasta tv and setup on kodi.
tbh this might be fine too but is it worth the risk for a yearly payment.
Yeah, that's a pirate iptv site. Only a scam if you were expecting something legal and with high quality streams.
Best avoided.
This is a crypto trading site.
Anyone ever used it and had any luck withdrawing the amount successfully?
Thank you
This is a crypto trading site
Seems more like a scam site pretending to be a trading site
Condolences on your $ lesson if youve used that site
Yeah. Lost $80 but learnt my lesson. Will be more careful in future
Common sense ain’t so common anymore…
@WoodYouLikeSomeCash: I usually do research but first time followed a YouTube video and thought it's legit based on comments. But happy that I learnt my lesson and didn't end up losing a lot.
crypto scam
Trying to sell an item on Facebook Marketplace and the buyer wants to get it delivered.
He send me a link that says auspost and then if i click accept payment I have to login with my online banking details which feels like a fishing scam.
The link starts with this and then followed by a unique code
https://auspost.fdsu347s.shop/
Scam 101. Why do you need to login using your banking details? Shouldn't the buyer be the one paying for it?
To transfer the money.
Is there absolutely no way then to ship fb items?
100% a scam, tell them to kick sand and then report them to Facebook (Whether they will actually do anything is the question!)
Yep. From what I've seen, Meta/Facebook is pathetic at scam prevention. There's so much junk on there.
I find it impossible to contact anyone at Meta.
Lol
then if i click accept payment I have to login with my online banking details which feels like a fishing scam.
That's scary that you need to ask
Keeps us all entertained
This one the messages is different than other past scams, very casual, the profile also looks legit. Anyway each to their own
It’s just the website is a giveaway.
Lmao
Hi all
I am in the market for an Akubra and came across this site. The prices seem too good to be true and there does not seem to be a ton of info out there about them.
For example, the prices of their akubras are around $200 cheaper than anywhere else https://nungar.com.au/catalog/index.php/cPath/25_26.
So whats the deal, do they just work off virtually no profit margin or is there something i am missing?
cheers
They're legit and been around for years.
Scammers websites look modern and enticing. This website was last updated in 2005.
It wont ship. I have a 2 year old pending order. Its an actual store so you can give the bloke a ring.
Definitely not posted about as much these days on ozbargain after the couldn’t sell RMW boots anymore. They used to have pretty much best price all year round back in the day.
Is this website a scam or trust worthy?
There is a suitcase I really want to buy from them its sold out everywhere else.
https://our.raa.com.au/shop/luggage-travel-and-accessories/h…
cant order with Paypal, only credit card..shady?
Not every store has to offer PayPal.
You do know what RAA is right?
Car insurance
but i want to buy a suitcase is this place safe? i cant find any info on them .
It's the RAA. Why wouldn't it be unsafe?
@Rukiata: It's the South Australian version of the RACV.
It's not just insurance, they have physical offices/stores, as well as online. Google would have told you as much.
prob a scam
