Samsung 8.5kg/6kg QuickDrive™ Smart Washer Dryer Combo - WD85T984DSH $979 Delivered @ Samsung EPP

30

Hi all,

Been looking for some laundry appliances to furnish my new apartment.

Came across this and it looks like a pretty good deal with decent reviews on the unit. Seems to be the cheapest price after a google search. Apparently it's 45% off the RRP which I reckon is pretty bogus but even so, cheapest is $1100 delivered.

Can also apply the $50 Samsung code for further savings.

Released this year and seems to have a lot of high end features.

  • Do these things actually dry your clothes yet or still just leave you with a damp mess?

    • It will do more than that… probably give your clothes and house a charred texture

      • so you're saying they will dry my whole house now? with just the one machine!?

    • My mate has one and it seems to work okay.

I think the drying unit built is a heat pump one too.

    • This model dries quite well. Definitely not a damp mess like other cheaper brands.

  • Never have this. But isn't everyone always said stay away from Samsung appliances?

    • +1

They make good tvs and phones… they have a bad history with washing machine

  • +3

Do not buy Samsung fridges and washing machines!

    • could you share your experience on this?

      • Samsung Fridges i disagree with, had a great experience with them, 2 fridges over 20 years
Washing machines i have heard they have tons of motherboard failures.

Take all this as a grain of salt

Have had a Samsung front load washer for nearly 10.5 years. Absolutely 0 problems with it.

I own this model. Works great. Drying is fine.

I am sorry to say tho, that it was discounted to $849.15 for EOFY earlier this year.

    • wow! that's a great price!
Also really glad to hear it works great haha

    • Can you comment on the dryer function? Is it heat pump or vented? If heat pump, how often do you have to empty the water?

      • Heat pump.

Never have to empty water, it drains out the drain hose.

It does take a lot longer than a standard vented dryer but it is far gentler, no venting to worry about and with no lint filter to clean/empty. Most people complaining of damp items after drying probably overloaded the machine or washed with a low spin speed on heavy items like towels.

Thanks for the reply. So sounds like sticking to the listed weights for specific modes helps avoid damp clothes.

Can someone explain to me how this work?
So you got 8.5kg washing, and 6kg drying, does this mean you have to take out 1.5kg worth of clothes to meet the drying capacity?

    • +1

I'm extremely lazy so just plan to chuck in 6kg from the get go and let it do it's thing haha

      • +2

        2.5kg lol but same.

        • Is there a setting to have the dryer start automatically after washing?

Do you use the smart app function with the washer/dryer?

I'm hoping to start the washer then dryer accordingly through the app with delays and what nots. Is this function available in the app?

          • +1

@pepsicles: Yes you can set the dryer to start automatically.

No idea if it has a smart app, if it does I haven't used it.

Damn, my math is way off there :)
