PS3 Price in Japan

Hi im going to japan in November and possibly as a 'souvenir' I may purchase a PS3. Most likely a coloured one, so at least its different from a regular one bought locally. Before you ask yes I know about Bluray/DVD compatibility etc I just want an awesome souvenir not some crappy junk.

Any who I've been trying to find what the retail price is over there and pretty much came up zilch. (other than old stuff) I also realise the price will change from now until November but if anyone has any idea of the best areas to buy electronics (apparently there is a good electronics district) and somewhere I can go to check the cheapest price and not have to go looking around too much, especially with the language barrier and all.

Does anyone know of a JapBargain.co.jp?? lol

    So… I did a little more digging and came up with this

    ¥22,998 ~ (approx. $263) for a White PS3 160GB. Hopefully around $200 in November ;)

    Any idea anything else to get there as well? I used to work for Sony so fully going to checkout the Sony HQ

      Could shop for a PSP Vita and score some Japanese-only titles there as well.

      Anyway when you get there visit Akihabara (Wikitravel guide) which is chock full of everything Japanese — electronics, anime merchandise, bars/cafes etc.

    Hey,

    Yep Akihabara is the main electronics district. There is a very large electronics shop not far from the train station called Yodobashi Camera. If you shop there, bring your passport because you can claim back 5% tax. The other large electronics store is Loax which has a few branches in Akihabara.

    There is a nice Sony Store in Ginza district.

    Amazon Japan is a good place to get electronics cheaper if you have someone that can help in Japan. They have very quick delivery within Japan.

      LAOX actually :P But yeah Bic Camera is also another main store chain though a quick search there had metallic blue ones for $350ish (320G E3000 model)I didn't check if that was with or without tax. Most probably without as that is how they price it over there..

    BIC camera in Ginza/hibiya is reasonable.
