Any Reviews about Kogan Monitors

I am planning to buy 2 of these monitors along with the mounting stand! Looks reasonable and reviews also good on the site. But we cannot always trust reviews on their own website. so asking if any experience with this particular model or in general exp with Kogan Monitors?

I wouldn’t shell out my money for a Kogan monitor. Pay the extra $50 or so and get a genuine brand name monitor. I think there is a dell deal running in eBay at the moment where you can get one for just a bit more.

Not to mention that it only incudes a year of warranty. Not worth it.

They’re also probably about to go bankrupt so not a good idea.

They’re also probably about to go bankrupt

Wow, that's a pretty big statement. Citation?

      • +1

I’m guessing he’s referring to this… Kogan not in a great financial position but they won’t be shutting up shop any time soon.

Haha - you’re the best JV.

        • Who knows what hellousyd is referring to, unless they respond. That comment could be considered libellous perhaps.

          • -1

            @GG57: I am indeed referring to what jackary has listed;

'However, as my Fool colleague James reported this morning, “Despite delivering a 56.8% increase in revenue, inventory management issues ultimately led to the company reporting an 87% reduction in net profit after tax to just $3.5 million”.'

            • @hellousyd: Ok, and you consider this to be an indication that the company is heading towards bankruptcy?

              • -1

@GG57: Idk about you but I think an almost 90% reduction in profit is a fairly significant issue.

Especially when ecommerce domestically and internationally has seen such a big surge.

                Have a good day :)

                • @hellousyd: I had a look at Kogan's FY21 Results Presentation. The content is interesting but certainly not dire. Shareholders would appear to agree, as the share price is back above $11 (higher than at the end of May), despite a few surges and falls in recent months. That current share price is despite the announcement of no dividend.

Hardly a bankruptcy candidate I would have thought.

                • @hellousyd: But profit is profit… i.e. free cash monies.
You could literally have a 100% reduction in profits and still be able to remain 'in business' (arguably you'd be a really bad business.. and better off just putting your money in the bank).

They don't seem even close to bankruptcy based on those numbers.

Now if you were saying that Uber is close to bankruptcy.. having a -$6.77 Billion 'profit' in the FY2020.. I'd still say that you were wrong. Because whilst they're not making even close to a dollar profit, they still have people pouring in cash such that they can pay their debtors.

@hellousyd: I dislike Kogan for lots of reasons. This just confirms it for me: an arguably once-in-a-lifetime gouge and the profits plummet. Who know WTF is going on there.

Personally I would have nothing to do with this mob.

              • @fantombloo: Agreed.

              • @fantombloo: Have you made yourself informed, or are you just looking at a final 'net profits after tax and adjustments' figure and decided the company is a basket case?

                • +1

@GG57: Depends what you mean by basket case.

I long ago declared them a basket case for my own purposes after hearing Ruslan talk about various things, both Kogan related and things that were politically broader. I didn't have to see any number - that was enough for me.

                  • @fantombloo: I'm not sure why you would join in a side-discussion about the company's likelihood of bankruptcy, when you haven't considered the financial position of the company.

                    • @GG57: That's fine, you don't have to be sure. Also I didn't mention bankruptcy or respond to any claim about bankruptcy at all.

                      • @fantombloo: This whole sub-thread is about hellousyd stating "…probably about to go bankrupt…".

                        • @GG57: Evolution - not just a biological phenomenon.

Personally I wouldn't touch Kogan,,, The Dell S2721D comes up cheaper than that quite often, $208 in recent times, I have 2 of them, no complaints, great for the money:

It’s possibly not the issue with the stock, rather than Kogan themselves. Who knows if you’ll get it? If anything goes wrong, the support will be non-existent.

    Not really worth the risk.

  • +2

Anything with the Kogan brand on it will be a Grey Import, try getting any Customer Service or assistance from Kogan when it dies.

Pay a few dollars more elsewhere for peace of mind.

I've got that kogan monitor. It's fine - only 250nits so not that bright and colour accuracy is average. Been about a year and still working so that's good relative to Kogan's normal QC. The low brightness was annoying me so I bought brighter monitors - it's about as bright as any cheap monitor is. They claim 100% SRGB colour but it really does not seem like it.

Haven't been able to use the 75hz freesync as it's via DP not HDMI

Does the job but for $229 go for the Dell S2721D as it's a far far far better monitor - brighter, likely better colour accuracy, and 3 year warranty

  • I am planning to buy 2 of these monitors

Can you remove the Kogan logo off the front ?

    • +1

I removed the Kogan branding from an old TV with some sugar soap and a GENTLE rub with a microfibre cloth.

    Thanks everyone…
not buying Kogan monitor now!!! :) so back to square one and will check for other monitors that are suited to my needs.

    • Yeah it's just not worth the gamble anymore.

  • +2

They're good until they're not then it's straight to hard rubbish/electronic recycling.

  • +3

Don't buy anything from Kogan ever.

bought a kogan monitor for around 450 just under 2 years ago. Both the DP and HDMI connection died after 2 years. Waste of money. I went with the Dell monitors on sale from here. No issues so far and great colour quality.

  • The reason I will never buy anything Kogan is because you can never ever contact them by phone, and all has to be done by email.
With email being your only contact they are so slow and and not good to deal with.
Forget them, I will always go with a company that you can easily contact, and offers proper customer service.

    • I suppose if you have the need to make direct contact that can be an issue.
I don't buy a lot from Kogan, but when I have bought things I can't recall having had any need to contact them. I purchased it, it arrived, it was as I expected, and it was cheaper than alternative products that I looked at.
