Highly recommended as a programmer (to trigger all sorts of macros). I'm using the 15-key version now and decided to upgrade on recent price drop. Going for over $400+ from local stores.

Edit: May not be for everyone, but if you see the value from this review video below, I think you will appreciate this product.

  • How do you use as a dev?

    • Interested too, seems pretty expensive for what is basically a macro binder?

I know people who use this in tandem with tools to submit POST requests to specific sites he would otherwise need to manually visit and change config of, making it way more useful and timely.

Is it a keyboard with 32 customisable keys?

    • +2

yes, but each key is an LCD screen so it's very customisable.

      • +4

teardown videos show they ended up just using a standard LCD that's like 7 inches, but made a custom touch layer and the keys are just glass lenses over specific spots of the screen, very cool and probably less overall cost I guess?

  • I always wondered why these are so expensive.. seems like a fairly simple device..

If you are doing live streaming with multiple monitors this is a must have

This would allow you to operate the streaming software without stealing focus from your keyboard/mouse/presenter etc
There are SW solutions but some prefer HW solutions.

      Just one example.

This would be so good for my workflows; programming, drawing, video editing, OBS, running scripts/macros, window switching/management, desktop switching.
Always wanted a keyboard with individual custom displays like Optimus Maximus from the 2000s (very expensive).

While keypads/gaming pads could do the trick for cheaper, the issue is remembering the keys for each program. Feels like I need to make a paper guide to tell me what's binded. Would be nice if it was under $300 to write off completely for tax.

  • Good price.

I have this and love it! I bought it for video recording and streaming when COVID hit. Useful for easy control of cameras, titles, OBS, Blackmagic etc.
But then for regular desk work I have shortcuts to all my frequently used apps and websites, Zoom controls. Multiple key combination shortcuts at the press of a button!
    Maybe I'm just lazy …

    • +1

It's not just lazy - it stops you having to jump outside of your normal thinking workflow.

I do online teaching, and I have it set up with a number of options (such as a number of timers) as well as a number of other features.

I don't have to stop what I'm doing and to search for an app, or think about a key combo, or what the URL of a commonly used site is - I know I can just push that button over there with my muscle memory and it's done.

No distractions from my current workflow - it works great.

Good with a HOTAS setup. I use mine with Star Citizen and another at work.

  • I use this to launch putty sessions to VMs at work, You can have access to 31 VMs, Nodes per subpage in Stream deck (1 icon for the back button). Imagine a page per environment.

Other uses include launching windows at exact locations on desktop, 1 click launches to setup your workspace for the day where you have all the apps you want in a specific layout.

You can even use it for smart home integration to control lights and other devices.

Setup macros to change your audio and sound, inputs and outputs.

There is so much you can you in it, if you want to save $330 bucks then just macro it all in auto hotkey. If you want something easier to use/manage, the stream deck cant be beat.

    • I have the hue lights in my study set up with it, so at night when i'm gaming - just two buttons - 40% brightness and yellow lights.

I've commented on my love for these before. I've got 2 x 15 button units and an XL.
They look after my 5 data projectors, sound console, 2 vision switchers, two matrix video hubs, 5 mac computers running presentations and playback software, and motorised house curtain. Managing this stuff as a single operator at times would have been overwhelming but the streamdecks (using Companion software) have transformed my workflow and ability to do multiple tasks with a single button press. It also allows me to preset complex technical tasks that can be easily controlled by non tech staff. They have been a complete gamechanger for me.

    • How do you control the motorised house curtain with it?

      • Global Cache IP2CC IP controlled relay There is a module written for this unit in Companion :-)
The relays trigger the contactors which in turn activate my pulley motor.

          Fantastic. Thank you so much.

  • This was $278 at EB once but only once.

I'm returning my 15 keys Mk. II to get this.

    Grabbed one finally, thanks.

  • Finally bit the bullet!

Any helpful guides/inspirations for non-streaming workflows?

    Thanks OP!

I was annoyed I missed out on the 15 key deal but why not go big or go home. My intended use is as a tabletop roleplaying soundboard, lightboard and map controls. I'll probably forget to update this post, but feel free to PM me if anyone finds this in the future and wants an update.
